ARTS AND CRAFTS
Here are some
fun art projects we have enjoyed here in our home preschool:
BLOSSOMING TREES
Materials
needed: popped popcorn, construction paper, marking pens or crayons,
glue
Directions:
Help each child draw a tree trunk and branches , have them glue popcorn
on branches for blossoms, color tree trunk, add other pictures such as
grass, sun, flowers, etc. to their pictures.
When pictures are dry, hang pictures on a wall at children's eye level
so that they can see their art work. Be sure and write their names
on their projects. Seeing their names written helps them to learn
to recognize that letters put together make words and helps them to recognize
their name as it is spelled.
Fuzzies
Materials
needed: scissors, glue, precut animal shapes, soft fuzzy materials
such as cotton balls, yarn, felt, etc. Have a variety on hand
for the children to choose from.
Directions:
Have children cut and glue fuzzies on animal shapes.
Weather Chart
Materials
needed: construction paper cut into arrow shapes,
paper
plates, brass fasteners, crayons.
Directions:
Help child divide plate into four separate sections and in section draw
a symbol for the sun, rain, snow, and clouds. (see example)
Attach arrow to center of plate with brass fastener. Discuss today's
weather and point to it on weather chart. Additional discussion can
include what we wear outside on various weather days. (for example: a snowy
day: coat, mittens, boots, etc.)

of how weather chart can be divided
Musical Art
Materials
Needed: various types of music tapes or CD's, tape player
or CD player, paper, crayons
Directions:
have children draw to music, vary the rhythms of the music being played
and tell children to draw to the music. Comment on different patterns
drawn during different rhythms of music played. Hang children's art
work on wall at eye level so that they can see their work.
