WHO WILL SING FOR ME?

LITTLE BIRDIE, LITTLE BIRDIE WON'T YOU SING ME A SONG?
I GOT A SHORT TIME TO STAY HERE AND A LONG TIME TO BE GONE.

OUR FAVORITE BLUEGRASS BAND

EAST OHIO GRASS

Doug Blevins, Mayo Spence, and Lloyd Blevins

All the band members are natives of West Virginia. Doug and Lloyd are from Iaeger in McDowell County and Mayo is from Mingo County. They live in the Cleveland area.

Doug Blevins of East Ohio Grass Band died suddenly on October 29, 1999. His beautiful voice and banjo music are silenced forever. His family, friends, and fans are in shock, and his smiling face will be sadly missed.

DOUGLAS BLEVINS - age 41

In Memory of Doug Blevins - a Great Artist

As the leaves of fall are falling
There is one we loved so much
That's fallen like an Oak leaf
And many's the heart he touched.

Doug you'd be so surprised
How many hearts are sad
The same old hearts that listened
And you made them feel so glad.

You had a way of reaching out
With every song you sang
And the way you played your music
We'll never hear again.

Losing you is hard to take
We hurt so much inside
We still cannot believe you're gone
The tears still haven't dried.

Only you knew what it was
Some how that went so wrong
And made you think with in your heart
You just could not go on.

But we your fans will not forget
On this we all agree
You and all your music
Will live on in memory.

GOODBYE LITTLE BIRDIE

Dolores & Donald Davis

We spend our Thursday nights at Flavors on the Square Restaurant in Painesville, Ohio. They do the pickin' and singin' . . . and that's us grinin'. "East Ohio Grass could wake the dead," Donald said.

Lloyd Blevins, formerly of the East Ohio Bluegrass Band, has organized a new band called LLOYD BLEVINS & THE RAMBLING MOUNTAIN BOYS.

YOLYN CHURCH

This was once the Yolyn Christian Baptist Church. The Pastor I remember was Rev. Harry Pyle. He preached my mother-in-law's funeral in 1972. She was a member of the church. When the Dehue Community Church was torn down, Rev. John Perovich and his church members moved to the Yolyn Church.

DEHUE POND

Rev. Archie Conway, and Rev. Emmett Riggs (my dad) baptizing John Ingram at Dehue Pond in 1958. John later became a minister. They are all deceased.

REV. ROY VANCE & REV. CAUDLE ADKINS, JR.

I took this picture in 1958 at the dedication of the Dehue Park which was built by my dad, Rev. Emmett Riggs and some of the community boys. It was located behind the parking lot across from the entrance to the mine. It was a place where the young people held picnics and barbeques. Rev. Vance was Pastor of the Dehue Community Church, before he became Pastor of McConnell Tabernacle. Rev. Adkins was from Dehue, and held many revivals in the Logan County area before moving to Huntington.
