“We do not debate the truth; we declare it.”
—Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

“The strangers to God, His grace and His love,
Were gathered by blue Galilee,
To listen with joy to words from the lips
Of the Stranger who sat by the sea.

“They came, and they were blessed, He gave the weary rest,
He made the blinded eyes to see;
He fed the hungry soul, and He made the wounded whole,
By the waters of blue Galilee.”

ORGAN PRELUDE, The Nearer, The Sweeter, Mr. Tirrito
CALL TO WORSHIP, I Peter 1:1-5, KJV

“1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, ~ 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, throught sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace be mutiplied unto you, and peace, be multiplied. ~ 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ~ 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, ~ 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
*O Worship the King, All Glorious Above, Hymn No. 61
*OPENING PRAYER, Pastor Picos
Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory, Hymn No. 553
ANNOUNCEMENTS, Pastor Picos
CHEERFUL, THANKFUL GIVING, Congregation

Do I have the right to call anything mine,
when God has given it all to me?

OFFERTORY, I’d Rather Have Jesus, Mr. Tirrito
*I Would Be True, Hymn No. 382
RESPONSIVE SCRIPTURE READING, Romans 13:1-14, KJV

“1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. ~
“2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. ~
“3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same. ~
“4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. ~
“5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. ~
“6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. ~
“7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. ~
“8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. ~
“9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ~
“10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. ~
“11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. ~
“12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” ~
“13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. ~
“14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
This World Is Not My Home, Hymn No. 311
PASTORAL PRAYER, Pastor Picos
SERMON, A New Administration, Pastor Picos
*The King Is Coming, Hymn No. 515
*BENEDICTION, Pastor Picos
*ORGAN POSTLUDE, Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me, Mr. Tirrito

By the way, look at the WORDS of that last hymn. Is Jesus really coming for you, or are you singing your deluded way to hell? “When He cometh to make up His jewels,” the Lord will not care how long you warmed a pew in a church house, but whether your life of sin lay under His blood. Look to Jesus and be saved today, for, “The coming of the Lord draweth nigh.”

Thoughts for the Week

“Cursed be that love and unity for whose sake the Word of God must be put at stake.”—Martin Luther. (January 14, 2001).

He who hesitates is honked at. (January 14, 2001)

WASHINGTON MONUMENT SERMONETTE: Workers renovating the Washington Monument discovered something different in July. Behind some debris were found the following words, “Whoever is the human instrument under God in the conversion of one soul, erects a monument to his own memory more lofty and enduring than this.” Inscribed in the 1800s, the unknown person really said it well! Daniel 12:3, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” (January 14, 2001)

“The humblest citizen in all the land, when clad in the armor of a righteous cause, is stronger than all the hosts of error.”—William Jennings Bryan. (January 7, 2001)

Bible Christians believe in justification by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, followed by works which glorify our Father in heaven. Roman Catholics believe works add up to their justification—showing how good you are and glorifying self. (October 29, 2000)

Faith not put to good use is worthless. (October 8, 2000)

Christianity was never designed to be observed; its fulfillment comes through involvement. (October 1, 2000)

Live so you’re neither afraid of tomorrow nor ashamed of yesterday. (September 24, 2000)

You have not lived a perfect day, even though you have earned your money, unless you have done something for someone who will never be able to repay you. (August 20, 2000)

God sends trials not to impair us but to improve us. (August 20, 2000)

The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions—the little soon forgotten charities of a kiss or smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment, and the countless infinitesimals of pleasurable and genial feeling. And, they are easy to give. (July 23, 2000)

Genius without integrity is a curse. Talent without honor is a handicap. Effort without purpose is blind. Beauty without virtue is a menace. (July 16, 2000)

Jesus Christ is no security against storms, but He is a perfect security in storms. (July 9, 2000)

“Eight Keys to Contentment.” 1. Health enough to make work a pleasure. 2. Wealth enough to support your needs. 3. Strength enough to battle with difficulties and overcome them. 4. Grace enough to confess your sins and forsake them. 5. Patience enough to toil until some good is accomplished. 6. Charity enough to see some good in your neighbors. 7. Love enough to move you to be useful and helpful to others. 8. Hope enough to remove all anxious fears concerning the future. (July 9, 2000)

The cry of every human heart is, “I want someone to care about me.” Do you care enough to ease the heartaches? (July 2, 2000)

Funny, how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me. (June 25, 2000)

Justification is by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone.

We do NOT want, as the newspapers say, a church that will move with the world. We want a church that will move the world. (April 16, 2000)

He who does not fear sin had better fear for his safety. (April 16, 2000)

Service is love in action. (April 9, 2000)

If we are faithful God will look after our success. (April 9, 2000)

“Three Reactions to Suffering.” Some are CINDERS…they get burned out. Some are SINNERS…they get burned up. Some are SENDERS…they just get brighter. (April 2, 2000)

We often find that Christianity is marketed in a “things-go-better-with-Jesus” wrapping; that it pays to be a Christian. But, whenever the church invites people to take refuge in the name of Jesus without challenging the dominion of evil, it becomes a counter-sign of the kingdom. (April 2, 2000)

Who Are My Neighbors?

N is for neighbor. Many of us have neighbors who are not saved and actively involved in church or Sunday school.
E is for employees and employers. Are all the people you work for saved and actively involved in a church?
I is for interesting people. Every day we meet a lot of interesting people who are not saved and actively involved in a church or a Bible study.
G is for general contacts—people at the bank, spa, classroom, service station, or grocery store.
H is for hobby friends—people who share our interest in antiques, needlecraft, stamp collecting, etc.
B is for baby. New babies are born daily, and this is a natural time for parents who have been inactive to get involved in church again.
O is for occupational friends—people in the workplace who admire and respect you.
R is for relatives—children, parents, brothers, in-laws, etc.

This list shows that you as a Christian really do have a wide circle of influence. Share your witness with these neighbors. Let them know that God cares for them. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30).

Evangelism

Are you sharing the gospel message and inviting friends and family to church? Churches grow one person at a time, but how shall people hear if you won’t speak to them?
