A
bout 40 years ago the 1st Brinkworth Guide Company closed. Over the past 6 years the Brownie Pack had grown enormously, but, because there was no Guide unit to go on to, the older ones would not leave, and numbers were approaching 30 ! So, in 1996, we restarted this unit. For the first Promise Ceremony we had a party, bringing together the 9 new Guides and those older people still around who had been connected with the unit 40 yeares ago. Now the Guide unit has increased to 17, so something must be right ! In addition to Trefoil work, we are an active unit. We have been swimming, climbing (indoors), trampolining, hiking, ice skating, camping, wood-fire cooking, ... On the next page are some photos of activities we have been involved in...

Hi I’m Lucy. I am 12 years old, and I share my birthday on Valentines day (14th February ) with my twin sister Kate. We are not identical twins, but look fairly alike, although I am the best looking of course. We both belong to the1st Brinkworth Guide Unit. We wear uniformwhen we have services at church and some meetings and sometimes when we go out. We have seventeen Guides in three patrols: they are Red Rose White Rose and Yellow Red. This is good because we get grouped with our friends. Every week each patrol takes it in turns to be either duty patrol, games patrol, or to read a prayer at the end of the meeting. We do lots of different things. We have been rock climbing twice, ten pin bowling, line dancing and have made candles and lots more.
