WELCOME TO CALVINS FUN PAGE

You are visitor

I was born in Okla City, Okla. and for the most part, have lived in the area ever since. When I was in grade school I was crazy about baseball, and participated through high school. Heres a couple of pictures, circa 1956

In the pic on the left, I'm second from the left on the back row. Thats my Dad in the wheelchair. He was our team's official score keeper. In the pic on the right I'm on the right.

This picture was from 1957(I'm 2nd from left on back) This scragley bunch won the county championship for 11 and 12 year olds.

My next phase is what I call my "race car days"

In those days a person could build and run a car as a hobby for little expense. The cars were called "hobby stockers" I tried this for a couple of years until the rules changed and it got to be more work than play and also more costly. The track where I raced was south of Norman, Okla. Here are some pics of my car.

This is an action picture taken on a race night in 1972. These below are "still" pictures before a race started. The one on the left (and those above) are of a 1957 Ford. The other one is a 1958 Ford taken in 1971

Later I was into motorcycles, dirtbikes and street machines. My wife, Brenda, and I took many trips with some of our friends who also liked to ride. We usually left Okla City on organized events sponsered my local clubs. Some of the most beautiful scenery was in Arkansaas. This picture is of a muriel painted on the side of a building in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

These pictures are of Talimena Skyline Drive in eastern Okla and western Ark. This was the route of an organized run starting in Okla City then going thru Talahina, Okla to Mena, Ark. I participated in this 4 times and never got tired of it. This one on the right is in front of a motel where we stayed, along with 3 other couples. On the left is a check in on another run.

The motel was in Clayton, Okla and the lake was South of Clayton. That's Brenda on the left and me on the right. In this event the people who registered had to visit 12 different sites when they could and the pictures were proof we had been there .

The cabin on the left is where we stay during deer season. we also used to take dirtbikes . Three of us were on this trip. on the left is a good friend (Lanny) in red and me in blue. On the right, the blue bike is mine (yamaha it400) the yellow bike, behind mine next to the pickup is Carls (yamaha yz125) and the red bike is Lannys (honda 500). This location is in the Kiamichi mountains outside Stanley, Okla.

I probably like to go fishing more than anything. I don't get to as much as I used to, but that does't make me like it any less. We fish with cane poles in "tube floats" and catfish are our fish of choice. Theese pictures were all taken at Stroud lake, north of Stroud,Okla., our favorite lake because it was easy to get in and out of and the fishing was almost always good.

Thats Brenda on the right (with our son Darrell) and me on the left. This was about seven in the morning, as you can see we just waded in the water from the bank where there was no dropoff.I was just getting ready to clean some fish in this one below. Thats Brendas Dad on the right with a channel cat he caught that weighed 5 3/4 pounds.

Brenda would never let me live it down if I didn't show you this fish. It's the biggest either one of us ever caught on a cain pole, a blue cat weighing 12 pounds. (thats her Dad holding the fish)
