ABOUT ME

Hi, there! I'm Dowie! (Of course, that's not my real name. It's just the nickname I use on the internet.) And...well...you are looking at one of the very first webpages I designed myself; from scratch without using an HTML editor...Whadaya think?

I took these really great classes, HTML & Web Design for Beginners 101 and HTML, Web Graphics and Web Page Design at
Spectrum's Virtual University, and learned how to do all this! On this page, I'll tell you some stuff about me and my family!

I like cross-stitching and gardening, and I don't like housework! Who does? (Some do!). However, my cross-stitch projects are left unfinished and my garden has far too many weeds, and my house....(well, never mind), because I'm spending way too much time, and having a ball, on this computer! Hands on learning is the best!

GARDENING...
I love roses, and my husband is baffled at how I coddle (is that the right word?) them. To my family, they have fondly become known as my "children"! I think I have forty (or more, I haven't counted lately!) rose plants. It would be much easier if someone else did all the dirty work, and I could just enjoy them; although if that were the case, I would be robbed of the rewarding feeling I get seeing stuff I've planted actually make it past the seedling stage. I'm not a serious gardener; just a "put it in the ground and hope it grows" kinda girl! Actually, I have only been gardening for two years and using this "hit or miss" method.

CROSS-STITCH...
As far as the cross-stitching goes, I've been doing that for about seven years. My first three projects were all stitched backwards. If you are a stitcher you will know what I mean, but for the rest: normal cross-stitches are stitched from left to right then crossed right to left. I went from right to left then left to right! No big deal. I didn't know at the time I was doing it wrong. Like I said: "Hands on learning is the best!" No one could tell but me and other stitchers, however, when I do something I like to do it right. And those first projects were given away as gifts! I used to do only larger projects until one day when I discovered the instant gratification of the smaller project. Now my big projects are sitting in my project bag waiting for the day I will remember them and get them done! And the small ones are also on hold at the moment!...puter!

MY CHILD AND MY PETS...
I am the stay-at-home mom of an eleven year old boy. He is our only child. He is an incredible, almost totally self-taught artist, a writer, and an actor. Actually he is always "ON"! I've often thought I'd like to get in touch with the mother of Robin Williams or Jim Carey or the hundred other slightly off the wall well-known figures of our day. I'm sure I know what they must have gone through! Maybe they could give me some survival tips.

We have a five year old cat, named Pebbles. I don't know what breed. Some mixed up thing. She is very pretty with long tan and greyish hair and penetrating blue eyes.

We also have a puppy, named Jesse. She is a Jack Russell Terrier, Chuahua mix. We got her in April of 1997. She was six months old at the time. Everyone who meets her loves her. She's a little overly friendly, and we've had a hard time breaking the jumping habit!

THEN THERE'S MY HUSBAND...
from whom my son was cloned! I've often thought I need to get them on the circuit as a father and son stand up comedy act, or do something with them, because they can be a hoot! But... for now, I am their sole audience! And I think they may be a bit too unusual for anyone but me; and sometimes even for me! My husband is an entrepreneur (a creative type) who is always creating things about ten years before their time when there is no interest. Then down the road after he gives up, what do you know... someone's making a mint with it. Unfortunately, not us! He is self-employed producing and marketing one of the products that he created (well actually three, but they are of the same type). Seems like he got the timing right on this one!:) Praise the Lord!

SO, THERE YOU HAVE IT...

A little (LOT!) more than you needed, or maybe even wanted, to know!! But then you're the one at the bottom of this page!

NOTE: In real life I am more than shy and even a bit introverted!
