Tatted Angel by (c) Lenore English

Made with size 20 thread this little angel is about 2 1/2" high.  Simple rings and chains are used, the only tricky parts are the shoelace tie for the head, and the double picots to represent the halo.  If the double picots don't work for you, just make a ring of 4 (p,4) 7x.

Abbreviations:  p = picot, lp = long picot (about 1/2") j = join, clr rw = close ring, reverse work, shoelace tie = the first knot you use when you tie your shoes, this reverses your thread so you can make the head on the outside of the chain without using a second shuttle.

Ring: 6 p 6, clr, rw.
Chain: (4,p) 8x, 4, rw.
Ring: 6 j(to same p) 6, clr, rw.
Chain: 4 j(to last p of prev chain), (4,p) 7x, (3,p) 5x, 3, rw.
Ring: 6 j (to same p) 6, clr, rw.
Chain: (3 j to adjacent p of prev chain) 5x, 3, (p,4) 8x, rw.
Ring: 6 j (to same p) 6, clr, rw.
Chain: 4 j(to last p of prev chain), (4,p) 7x, 4, rw.
Ring: 6 j (to same p) 6, clr, rw.
Chain: 3 ds, shoelace tie,
Ring (Head): 4, lp (3, lp, 1ds, j to first free picot) 6x, 3, j to final free picot, 4, clr, shoelace tie.
Chain: 3, join to base of first ring, 3, join to first picot on first chain,
(2 p 2, join to next picot) 6x,
2 p 2, join to space where wing and body previously were joined.
2ds, j to p in adjacent chain, 2, j to next picot, continue around the outside of the angel, joining the chain in the same manner on the opposite side.
End with chain 3 joined to the base of the fifth ring.

Finish threads, stiffen as desired.
