This butterfly can be done in one, two or three colors. You will need two shuttles, continuous wound if using one color; for two colors tie the threads together. I found this pattern in my grandmother's collection. My first attempt would not lay flat, and the center rings were tatted separately. I have rewritten the pattern to use two shuttles, and changed the stitch counts so it will lay flat.
