Made with size #30 Cebelia, these booties were about 3 1/2 " long. Begin with two shuttles, continuous wind, with one shuttle very full.
Use the full shuttle for the sole, let the second shuttle remain unused until the last two rings, when you make split rings to bridge to the next round.
Make a standard cloverleaf (rings A,B,C) with each ring 5p5p5p5, joining at the 1st and 3rd picots. rw.
Leave a small space of thread, about 1/4" or less. Small ring of 4p4.
Space as above, Medium ring E: 3 j(to ring C)3 p 2 p 3 p 3. rw.
Space, small ring: 4 j(to first small ring) 4. rw.
Space, another Medium ring like E, joined to ring E at last p.rw.
Small ring, 4p4, not joined.
Medium ring, joined to previous medium ring.
Small ring, joined to previous small ring.
Continue until you have 5 groups of small rings and 9 medium rings.
Make a cloverleaf like the beginning, continue with a small ring, joining it to the last pair of small rings.
Follow the drawing, continue back down the sole of the bootie, joining the small rings in clusters of 4, and joining the medium rings as before.
When you finish the small third ring in the last cluster, drop your first shuttle, and pick up your second shuttle. Use the second shuttle to make the fourth ring in the last cluster, and then make the last medium ring as a split ring, joining to the first ring of the cloverleaf and the last ring of the adjacent medium ring.
Now you are ready to begin the second round of the sole.
The first ring will have to be another split ring, joined at the two center picots of the previous split ring. The rings in the second round are all the same medium ring, 3 p 3 p 2 p 3 p 3. The chains are 3 p 2 p 3.
When you reach the cloverleaf, join a ring to each free picot on the cloverleaf and to the join between the clovers. Where there is only one picot to join to, make your rings 3 p 4 j 4 p 3. This keep your rings the same size.
Continue around, joining last ring to first ring. Cut and tie threads, sew in now is the easiest.
Third round:
Use the same medium ring, joined to the chain at two center picots. The chain is 4 p 4. Tie and cut ends, sew in now.
Medallion for the toe:
Use two shuttles for split rings. Start with six petal daisy, 5 p 5 p 5 p 5. Join at first and third picots, the sixth petal is a split ring.
Chain around the daisy, joining to each free picot. Each chain is 4 p 4 p 4 p 4.
When you finish the final chain, join to the same picot you started from, and make a small split ring of 3/3 to bridge to the next round.
This round joins the medallion to the toe of the bootie. Find the toe of your bootie, it is the center picot of the cloverleaf. Count back 5 picots from there, and that is where you should start joining the medallion to the bootie. Chain 4, join to bootie, 4. rw. Ring of 3 join to medallion, 3 rw. Continue around, the 11th ring will be a small ring joined between chains on the medallion to look the same as the other side.
Make a small chain of 4 p 4, then begin the next round, joining rings to chains on the bootie. Rings are all 4 p 4 p 4 p 4. Joined at first and third picots. Chains are all 4 p 4. Stop at the medallion and turn.
The last row is a beading row for the ribbon. Small rings of 4 j 4, and chains of 2 p 2 p 2 p 2.
