Mother’s Day Projects

Placemat: Cut 12"x18’ rectangle from decorative vinyl which has solid color on the reverse side. Decorate reverse side of vinyl with permanent felt- tipped pens.

Variation: laminate a picture that the children painted or colored

Hand Print: Place hand with fingers spread into paint. Press hand onto piece of construction paper. Attach either of the following poems:

My dirty little fingerprints I’ve left them on every wall, and on the drawers and table tops. I’ve really marked them all. But here is one that won’t rub off, I’m giving it to you. Because I’m thankful for a mother just like you!! Author Unknown

This is to remind you when I have grown so tall, that once I was quite little and my hands were very small.

Decorative spoon: Stain or paint a wooden spoon. Glue tiny straw, dried or silk flowers in the bowl of the spoon. Tie a ribbon above the bowl. To hang , attach a hook to the end of the handle.

Paper plat letter holder: With crayons or markers, decorate a paper plate and half of another paper plate. Place plates together with rounded edges matching. Punch holes in the bottom edge. Lace two plates together with yarn. Punch hole in the top of the whole plate, and thread with yarn making a loop for hanging.
