Wilkinson County and year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred an d sixty four and in the year of the Independence of the Confederate States of America between William Chambers of the County of Wilkinson of the one part and John D. Hicks of the County of Wilkinson of the other part witnesseth that the same William Chambers for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars in hand paid at and before the sealing an d delivery of these from the receipt where is hereby acknowledged hat h granted bargained so?? aliened conveyed and confirmed and doth by these presents grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said John D. Hicks his heirs and aligns all the right title and interest which the said William Chambers has and owns in and of the lands be longing to the estate of his deceased mother Rebecca Garrett and to which the said William Chambers is and was entitled as heirs at law of his deceased mother as aforesaid being the one fifth interest in the following land to wit lands formly owned by William Garret t formerly of said County now deceased and known and distinguished in the division of his estate as follows one hundred and sixty seven and one half acres of Lot known as the Creek Lot and six acres known a s the Depot Lot all in the (3rd) third District of said county lying near the Station fifteen 15 of Georgia Cen??? It is ordered and appointed by the Court that Samuel Deall(?), Jethr o Dean and Jefse(?) legal instrument as a will that the said not of sufficient sound min d and ..?..
to make a proper disposition of his estate.
2. That of the date of said ..?.. the mind of said William may abatted by age
and disease.
3. That previous to and ....?..... to the making of said proper styl a will
the said William being made in body and mind was improperly importioned by
persons not of his family to make and execute the same proper called his will
for not, making .?. ...?... purposing that by said improperly imporportioned
the said William may induced to make said paper for the purpose of .. .?... by
those practicing upon said William to ...?... his rightful heirs of h is estate
and for the benefit of others.
4. That as and before of the oath of said paper the said William may
surrender(?) by privacy among them the said, Jepsi Peacock, who mad e many false
and often ...?... representation to said William and leaving his ownly
legitimate /son/ child than in life to wit the aforesaid Henry Chambers and
im..?... the said William to sign said paper and did obtain it by false and
improperly respresentation conceding(?) his said son and at a time when said
Jepsi and others know that the said William had not such sound mind and memory
as to enable him to dispose of his estate with reason.
5. That at and before the oath of said having and for that purpose th e said
William was defriended by statements made to him by intended person s in being
that of unsound mind and memory to make said intended will. For this and many
other objectures, incapable and improportioning in the promises the s aid Henry
now he files his said Cancel(?) against the ..?.. and record of said intended
will; and is now to .?. maintain, and from the said as this hearing found may

The Confederate Veterans met here last Saturday and had quite an inte resting
meeting, Col W.A. Wooten was called on for an address, and responded i n his
usual happy style, then Mr A.W. Collins addresses his old comrades. Some
business was transacted and new officers were elected. Messrs. A.G. McArthur,
Jasper Adams, J.J. Mobley, Mathias C. Adams and J. Frank Clark, were appointed a committee on history. Following is a list of those present.

AN AGED CITIZEN GOES TO REWARD:
Mr William Chambers one of the oldest citizens of Montgomery County , died at
the home of his son, Mr Lewis Chambers, near Nails Ferry Saturday afternoon
last.
Mr Chambers(Uncle Billy) was a Veteran of the Civil War, in which h e served over three years, having volunteered his services when a young man. H e was the father of several children, none of whom are living except his son, Lewis, together with a great many grand and great grand children.
The remains of this good old man were buried at Old Smyrna Church Sun day
afternoon, surrounded by a large number of friends. He was the oldest member of Milligan's Creek Masonic Lodge, and for many years had bee n on the retired or honorary list. He was doubtless the oldest Mason in this section. One by one the mile stones are removed, Peace to him.
Wilkinson County Court House:
19 May 1868 William and I.J. Garrett Chambers sold 125 acres of Lot . No.234 to William Dickson. Tract known as Enoch Garrett Lot, from t he Estate of William Garrett.
