We enjoy gardening and have a small G-Scale Railroad in our back yard. The track is a small
oval, which we plan to move in cooler weather, and add more track at that time.
The G-scale is larger than N-scale, it is the size of the bigger trains
you see at Christmas, to put around a Christmas tree.
The rails are brass, so there is no problem leaving them out year round. Fireball
does the minature landscaping, and she has a small John Deere tractor
collection. Garden railroads can be a great hobby for couples to share.
Like any hobby it can be expensive, however, you can have a
small railroad like ours without having to invest huge amounts of money.
We have two small trains, the one
pictured on the left
is a Silverton Flyer (Denver and Rio Grande Western). The one pictured below
, is a replica of the Tweetsie Railroad(Eastern
Tennessee And Western North Carolina) which has been restored and is running again in the Great Smokey Mountains.
