This is Erik's private study. There are low bookcases along the walls, and the room is comfortable furnished with leather armchairs, lush carpeting and a large oaken desk.
On the desktop is a portfolio with the words "Heather's Fan Literature" printed in red ink on the cover. Inside is a neatly arranged stack of paper, each leaf covered with even handwriting. These leaves seem to make up several pieces of original writing.
The rest of the books in the room are by other writers, but are recommended for your reading.

NB:
Some of the stories below have been reviewed for Phantom Books, but you may have noticed that my more recent works get no press there. This is because I believe their ratings and evaluations come from a biased point of view, and I had the presumption to say so. Therefore, I hope you will judge my writing for yourself, as opposed to taking anyone else's word for truth or fact.

![]() | "Al Fin con Amore" This is the first of my fan novellas; it is based upon both the Leroux novel and the ALW musical, so you will find elements of both in the story. Christine has chosen Erik, as at the end of Leroux's novel; however, instead of releasing her to the Vicomte, Erik holds Christine to her promise and keeps her with him. I gave my Christine a shot of determination, making her resolved to keep her word - only to discover that maybe she doesn't determination to keep her with Erik after all. The award at the left was given to "Al Fin con Amore" by Eleanor of the Phantom's Labyrinth. |
![]() | "Acts of Contrition" Begun during my weeks in London and eclipsing all the others at 150 pages, this is slightly darker than my previous novellas. Having taken to heart criticism that my fanfics are unoriginal and revisionist, I have constructed this story around a more ... shall we call it, realistic? ... interpretation of the end of ALW's musical. Susan Kay's influence abounds here, and my own rather unsympathetic characterization of Raoul de Chagny pervades. But here you will find the Christine and Erik you know so well: she selfish and naive, he passionate and wounded - but not exactly ready to lie down and die after her departure. No, not quite yet. Follow Erik and Christine on their paths through Europe - and through the years after their last goodbye - as they each learn the sometimes-painful truth that they were never meant to be apart. "Acts of Contrition" recieved the award at left from Sophia of wishing.gq.nu. |
Issues in Adaptations of the "Phantom" Legend by Heather Sullivan
This is not fan fiction. It's actually an academic thesis paper that I wrote for an Honors Literature 350 course I took at the College of New Jersey. It focuses on Webber's musical and Charnas's "Beauty and the Opera" as adaptations of the original Phantom novel. It is rather lengthy, including extended quotations, secondary sources and a "Works Cited"; however, I recieved an A on it, so it's worth a read if you're interested.
Heroic Journey, Archetypal Functions and Mythological Influences in "Phantom" by Heather Sullivan
A second thesis I did on POTO for a class at TCNJ: English 342, Mythology. In this paper I discuss mythic structure and archetyped characters in ALW's "Phantom" as well as similarities between the show and the Hades/Persephone myth. It's long and perhaps a bit convoluted, but I've prefaced it with a brief summary of the technical terms that should help you get the point I'm making. It was an interesting paper to write and hopefully interesting to read.
The web is a great place to search for fanfic- it's easy to find and often tides me over while I'm on a quest for a certain Phantom novel. Listed here are some places to go for fanfic, as well as links to fiction which I have enjoyed.
Laura's fiction is some of the best that's out there. Her style reflects the influence of Susan Kay and the amazing fanfiction authoress Cara Liane (a.k.a. Lilith Sedai). Watch this space, as she's not only talented but quick!
Phantom Books is a virtual card-catalog of Phantom writings, and covers a wide variety of topics that range from Phantom history to stories based on the legend. There's an "Online Fiction" category, where a few of my longer stories are listed and reviewed. I would warn you, however, to take these reviews lightly - they are written by a person of rather unyeilding Phantom-views.
The Phantom Phiction Ring, of which I am a member, is a collection of sites that offer fanfic.
The Phanzine is an awesome internet-based Phan-produced magazine which often features fanfic. **modesty** I myself have been recently published there.
