And now for something completely different....

No, it's not another Python film.  It's even better!  From the director of

Clerks        Mallrats &   Chasing Amy

comes a story of life, love, sex, power and... God?  Dogma, (code name: Bearclaw) the latest Kevin Smith film, tells the story of two angels,  Loki and Bartelby, who are banished from Heaven and exiled to Wisconsin. Upon hearing about a revival in New Jersey, they travel there to try to use it as a way to get back home. View Askew Productions God calls upon an abortion clinic employee, Bethany to stop Loki and Bartelby from entering the church and having their sins removed.  She is assisted by two "prophets" Jay and Silent Bob, and Rufus, the thirteenth apostle.  There's a bunch of other stuph that happens, too, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone, and, besides, you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

Dogma was filmed in Pittsburgh, PA from 1 April until 4 June. I was lucky enough to snag myself an internship with the extras casting office, and get a little Locations and Production Assistant work while on set. Will my name be listed in the credits? Probably not, unless Kevin decides to feel sorry for me and puts me in the "Special Thanx". Do you care? Probably not, since I'm sure you came here to read about the film. (If you really do care about how I got the job, you can read it here) So I'll try to provide you with as much info as I can. Let's see, where to begin? Ah, right, the cast. Well, I've got to see all the main acting people in action, except Jason Lee. But I got to talk with him and hang out with him a bit (along with Askewers Brian Quinn and Brian Lynch) so it was all good :) Let me just say I have a newfound respect for everyone in this film. Not only are they phenomenally talented, but they're great people to just hang out and chat with, too. The almost complete cast list is listed below. Although there are plenty of rumors that Alanis Morisette is going to play God, (and even more speculations about the possibilities of other actresses filling the role) Kevin has not confirmed them, and until he makes a statement, my lips are sealed.

So, you're probably wondering, "What's it like to work with Kevin Smith?" Well, I think I'll save my thoughts for Kevin for another page. But I will say this: If I never get to work on another film again (my own excluded) I'm glad my experience with a major motion picture was working on Dogma. Kevin Smith is just an unbelievable guy. If you want to hear about what happens on the set, check out the Dogma Rumor Control's On Set Reports at NewsAskew. (I'll let Brad and Chris decide what is allowed to be known, so I won't get in trouble). However, if you want to get a little taste of how it was to be on set you can check out my Dogma Teaser page.
