Hello to everyone. So much happened in the last week I don't know where to begin. Last Thursday I was in San Antonio for a conference with many other athletes. I got to meet and exchange athletic paraphernelia with a lot of athletes that I admire and respect, like Janet Evans, Herschel Walker, and Shawn Elliott (formerly of the Arizona Wildcats). I spent the majority of the week in Orlando at Disney World. I went to Orlando for the Childen's Miracle Network's (CMN) annual convention, I got to do some sight-seeing and take part in many charitable activities as well. I know Orlando fairly well, because I once lived and trained there for about three months.
One of the programs I took part in down at Disney is called "Dreamers and Doers." The idea behind the program is to honor students from each state who have overcome odds to achieve excellence in the classroom, the athletic field, or in the community. The recipients of the awards are selected by the governor of each state. I really enjoyed the experience, and I felt honored to bestow awards on such deserving people.
Sunday was a free day, and I got to walk around Disney World and the MGM Studios park. I want to say thanks to all the folks at Disney because they treated me very well all weekend long. I think the highlight of the day for me was a ride at MGM called the "Tower of Terror." But I also enjoyed a lot of the shows at Disney World, including "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Lion King." I would also recommend highly the new sports facility at Disney, "The Wide World of Sports," it is in a word, awesome!
I spent Monday and Tuesday doing research at the library on paper for school, and doing a lot of different activities for the CMN, including a live satellite feed to more than 160 stations. The CMN is a cause I really believe in, so I'm always ready to help them in any way that I can.
I'm looking forward to my chat on Monday. I'll answer any questions that you have, but hopefully I'll get a chance to talk about my upcoming appearance on the CBS show "Touched by an Angel," the NCAA Champion UCLA Women's Gymnastics team, and the CMN. I'll speak to you then.
