December 27th Journal

I've been busy traveling the last couple of weeks. Part of my time was spent in Florida, as The World Gold Tour made stops in Miami, Tampa, and Orlando. I think my favorite part of the trip was the time I spent in Miami. I stayed at a great hotel called the Eden Roc. The decor of the place can best be described as Art Deco. Another highlight was going for an early morning run on Miami Beach. Miami Beach at sunrise is a really beautiful sight.

From Florida it was on to New York for an appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL). I was really looking forward to being on the show because I had so much fun during my first appearance. Rosie O'Donnell was the host of last week's show , and Penny Marshall also made an appearance. The sketch I rehearsed was a spoof of "A Christmas Carol." My character was Tiny Tim, and my "brother" Kippy (SNL cast member Chris Kattan) was Teeny Tim. I thought that the sketch was very funny. Unfortunately, I didn't get to appear on the show. Some of the other scenes ran over and my sketch was cut along with two others. I didn't find this out until about two minutes before I was supposed to go on stage. The SNL people were very nice about it, in fact I think they felt worse than I did. If you want to see pictures from the rehearsal, they are posted in my gallery.

My next stop was Houston. Houston is another of my favorite places to visit. My Aunt and Uncle live there, and some of my favorite restaurants are there. I really enjoyed the time off from school and the tour, as I got a chance to relax and to eat some really great food. From Houston, I rejoined the tour for stops in Illinois and Minneapolis.

I'm really looking forward to next week. On December 31, I'll be serving as the grand marshal for the MicroAge Fiesta Bowl Parade in Tempe. I'm really honored to being taking part in such an important event in my home state. For everyone who doesn't live in Tempe and wants to see it, CBS is taping the parade and will show it on New Year's day.

I'll speak to you again soon.
