School
What a relief to have my mid-terms over! Both my Biology and my Ethnomusicology exams were difficult, but I did pretty well on both. I studied a lot for both tests, so it was nice to see my hard work pay off. I have another speech to do this week, and I plan to talk about the NCAA. Specifically, whether or not college athletes should receive salaries for playing sports.
In addition to my studying, I try to do volunteer work on campus when I can. This Friday I'm volunteering at the UCLA Medical Center for six hours. Volunteering gives me such a great feeling, its always nice to give something back to the community.
There's a lot of excitement on campus right now because UCLA's basketball team has been doing really well. I hope they can continue their winning ways. This Sunday, 2/23, UCLA plays against Duke here in Los Angeles. Assuming I have all my studying done, I plan to go watch the Bruins beat the Blue Devils!
The ESPYs
I was very honored to receive an award at last week's ESPY awards. I won the award for Outstanding Performance Under Pressure. I had a great time at the event, partly because I got to meet so many interesting athletes and entertainers. I met track star Michael Johnson, soccer superstar Mia Hamm, downhill skier Picabo Street, and model Tyra Banks, just to name a few. I saw Bill Cosby, but didn't get a chance to say hello.
Kerri Strug Hugs
Again, I want to say thank you to all who entered the contest and sent me cards and notes. I was very flattered to receive so many of your kind wishes. I hope erveryone had a great Valentine's day. I'll talk to you again soon.
