One of the best television shows ever made is "The Muppet Show." Critics adored it, adults and children alike loved it. Suprisingly, "The Muppet Show" had a hard time getting past the big American television producers. Jim Henson tried the three major American networks (ABC, NBC, and CBS) and was turned down. Finally Henson found someone who would listen. His name was Lord Lew Grade, a entrepenteur who knew talent when he saw it. Lord Grade gave Henson the opportunity to produce his puppet show in England. This muppet variety show with its famous guest appearances soon became a big hit. It was broadcasted throughout the world, becoming the most widely watched television show of that time. It lasted five seasons and in the process its characters became famous stars themselves. |
