Chillin With Alaska's Vincent Kartheiser

The movie Alaska may be set in the northern wilderness, but the coolest thing about it is 16-year-old Vincent Kartheiser! Born and raised in Minnesota, Vincent plays a boy who, along with his sister, goes into the Alaskan mountains in search of his missing father. But drama's nothing new to this cutie--his first big movie was Indian In The Cupboard! Super Teen recently sat down for a chat with Vincent--listen in!

Super Teen: What's Alaska all about, Vincent?

Vincent: It's about a brother and sister who go out to find their father who went down in the Alaskan wilderness. They free a polar bear from poachers and go on a spiritual journey to find themselves. I might be looking at it a little deeper, but hey, I can do that!

Super Teen: Did you get to hang with the polar bear?

Vincent: Yeah, I did. The polar bear's trainer was really cool. I'd just go up to him and say 'Is Aggie tempermental today or can I go in and feed her?' He was like, 'Yeah!'

Super Teen: Weren't you nervous being in a cage with a bear?

Vincent: I was a little edgy at first when she was sniffing around, but then you realize, 'Well, this polar bear is either going to kill me or not, and being scared isn't really going to change anything.'

Super Teen: Would you like to direct one day?

Vincent: No--that's too much pressure. I consider myself a laid-back kind of guy and I don't want an ulcer by the time I'm forty, you know? People should stick with what they do. If I was a comedian, I wouldn't be walking around doing drama roles. I'm an actor--I'm not gonna walk around and do director roles. If I get bored with acting, I'm just gonna have to get a real life!

Super Teen: What do you like to do besides acting?

Vincent: Anything on top of a mountain I do--mountain climb, mountain bike, mountain sing, mountain swim, mountain dance. I'm the mountain man!

Super Teen: Do you like camping?

Vincent: Nope--it doesn't start with mountain (ha ha)!
