Dakota:
After finding out the news that no doubt will change my life forever, I waited til everyone went to sleep before I packed my clothes and left. I couldn't stay in Florida and ruin Nick's life. We're so young and he doesn't need the responsibility. Before I left, I stuck a letter in the mailbox for Skylar telling her where I am and begging her to not tell anyone. Sooner or later, I'll explain to her why I left, but right now I'm on my own. Which brings me to where I am now. I decided to move back home with my father. I stepped into the house and was surprised to see that nothing has changed.
The front hall was immaculate as usual and people were rushing around doing things. Max greeted me at the door and smiled.
"Ms. Ross! It's so lovely to have you home," he said warmly. Out of all my family's servants, Max was my favorite. He always snuck me cookies and milk every night when I was younger and he always knew how to brighten some ones day. I've missed him so much. I ran to him and gave him a big bear hug, dropping my luggage to the floor. "How was Florida, Ms. Ross?" My body froze. Florida. Nick was there with everyone else. They were all clueless. No one knew I left. No one will understand though. I'm 18.....18 and pregnant. My father doesn't know yet, but he knows something has to be up. The reason this is so hard is that he doesn't like Nick. They didn't get along at all the first time they met and now....... How did this happen?
"Florida's okay, Max," I whispered and then walked up to my room. As soon as I opened the door, I ran and jumped on my bed. My head hit the pillow almost immediately and I could've honestly fell asleep there if my father wouldn't have walked in a minute later.
"Hi princess," he smiled and hugged me. I loved my father, but it upset me that he didn't like Nick..... It doesn't really matter now.
"Hi Daddy!"
"Are you going to tell me what this is all about? Why all of the sudden do you want to be back here?" I knew he was curious and he did deserve the truth. This is going to be the hardest thing to say.
"Please don't yell.... please don't lecture..... I have something important to tell you."
"Whatever it is, don't worry. Just tell me."
"I'm pregnant..." I whispered and his eyes widened.
"WHAT? How did that happen? Dakota, I thought you knew better then that! Is it that kid Nick's child?"
"Yes...."
"Dakota! How could you? He's not your type. You should've never ever went out on a date with him. You're better then that. He's in the music business, for christ's sake!"
"Daddy, stop! I love Nick! He's going to be the father of my baby," I cried.
"Well you will not be seeing him again. You're to stay here until the baby is born. Then you'll put the baby up for adoption. You're not going to ruin your life because of one little mistake..."
"Being with Nick was not a mistake!" He just looked at me and shook his head. There was disappointment in his eyes and he just left.
