"Nicky?" Angel's voice came from the hall. "In here Ang.." Nick said softly. "We didn't say goodnight to you..." Angel said. "You don't have to get up and say it..." Nick chuckled. "It's practically 1 in the morning..." "We wanna.." Aaron came from behind, followed along are his sisters. "Kait...Kait.." Nick shook her a little. "Hmm..?" "I want you to meet my brother and the brats...I mean sisters.." Kaitlyn laughed. They got in a line and each took turn giving Nick and Kaitlyn goodnight kisses. "'Night Kids..." Nick said as they marched back upstairs. "They're cute..." Kaitlyn said with a yawn. "And you're sleepy...let's go.." Nick helped her steady to her feet and stood up, leading her to the guest room. "Don't you wanna know why I ran away from home?" She asked as she settled onto the pillows. "No..I know it's me.." Nick took her hand. "We can take it one day at a time...as long as you love me..." "I love you Nick.." She whispered softly and colsed her eyes.
Her hands were still holding onto his tightly. Nick leaned down and kissed her lips. He looked around and started to cry softly. He stood up from the side of the room and settled himself on the couch. He sat there and watched her sleep, more like protecting her though. There were so much on his mind, but he was sure there were more on Kaitlyn's mind. They were both too young to be thinking so much.
Past:
"Two weeks in Kentucky will do you good..." Brian said on the plane.
"What will I be doing in Kentucky? Milk the damn cows?" Nick asked.
"Will you? That would be nice. Can you clean the pigs too..?" Brian
laughed. Nick stared at Brian, he couldn't be serious. "Calm down Nick!! I
live in Kentucky...I know it's a country state..but I don't live on a farm!!"
"You scared me B.."
"You've been under stress...this will help ya.."
"Well, I'm always up for a vacation.." Nick flipped through his comic
book.
"This is nicer than I thought!!" Nick exclaimed as he looked at the lake through his room for the next two weeks. "So peaceful.." "Yup!!" Brian patted his back. "Where's your fam?" Nick asked, but a figure had caught his attention from across the lake. "They're in the front house...Mama's making pot-roast!" Brian said excitedly. "Who's that?" "Brian frowned and looked. "Oh...that's Kait.." "That's a lot of info.." "You came to my hometown to check out girls?" "Come on..." Nick whined. "The Montgomery....they keep to themselves a lot...so we hardly talk to them...but Kait is cool..." Brian answered. "Her father is kinda strict..old fashion if you know what I mean.." Nick nodded and stared. He could only make out her long hair and slim figure. "Let's go eat.." Brian told Nick.
Present:
"Nick.."
"Huh..." Nick opened his eyes to find his mother. He yawned and looked at
the time: 6:30 A.M.
He smiled and looked at the bed and rubbed his eyes and shot up. "Where's
Kait?!"
"Calm down sweetie.."
"Calm down? Oh God...Did they take her away?" Nick ran outside and across
the living room and past the kitchen to the glass door. He stopped. He turned
to the table and there she was, eating breakfast with the rest of the
Carters. "Oh Boy.." He breathed in relief and sat down next to her.
Nick smiled. "You terrified me.."
Kaitlyn laughed. "I'm sorry.."
Nick raised his eyebrows. "Pass me the juice A.."
"Okay.." Aaron handed him the bottle of Sunny Delight.
Nick poured some fr himself as he kept his eyes on her. He put it down and leaned in close. "Don't ever do that again...please.." Kaitlyn smile widely as she nodded, her lips touching his in a sweet morning kiss. Nick pulled away with a smile and placed a hand on her knee, rubbing it while he ate.
The two walked down to the beach after breakfast that morning and talked. "I'm just glad we're together now...but I don't know what tomorrow brings..." She looked at him as they approach the broadway. Nick chuckled as he noticed the fortune teller booth from afar. "Let's see what tomorrow brings then..." Nick pulled her towards the booth. "Hi...what can I do for the lovers?" The curly-red-head asked. "Lovers eh? She's good.." Nick smiled at Kaitlyn and they both sat down. "Tell us more.." Nick told the lady. "Give me your hands.." Kaitlyn and Nick have her their right hands and smiled. "This is silly.."
Kaitlyn whsipered to Nick. The fortune teller gasped and looked at them. "Wow...I've never met one of you before.." "Huh?" Nick and Kaitlyn asked and frowned. "What's that suppose to mean?" Nick asked. The lady played around with playing cards as she stared at Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn felt insecure and took Nick's hand. Nick squinted at the lady and put an arm over Kaitlyn's shoulders. "It's you...your side...causing the problem.." The lady spoke. Nick scrunched his eyebrows. "How'd you know?" "Yeah....." Kaitlyn added. "Every century.." She began, "Two star-crossed lover are destined to meet...and it always ends as a tragedy...like the famous play.." "Oh no!" Nick stood up and covered Kaitlyn's ears. "Let's go Baby.." He pulled her up and handed the lady a 10 dollar bill. "Thanks..that was fun..." "Be careful!!!" She yelled at them as they walked away.
"Nick...let go.." Kaitlyn stared at him. "What did she say? Why are you upset?" "Nothing...she was just messing around...with our minds...let's go home..Brian said he'll be over to see you..." Nick took her hand and they both headed towards the beach to go home. "Baby, hold on.." She pulled on his hand. "What is it Kait!" Nick yelled. "You're upset...tell me please?" "She said we can't be together...if we have to...death will part us..it'll end in a tragedy.." Nick cried and pulled her close to him. Kaitlyn was speechless. "That's stupid...you believed her?" Kaitlyn cried. Nick shook his head. "Of course not..." Nick smiled for her and kissed her cheek. "We're gonna be forever...death can't even part us...." He said softly...still choking on some tears. "Forever.."
