Lis just looked into his eyes, not sure what to say.
"Feeling better?" he asked with a boyish grin.
She laughed. "Oh yeah."
"Good." he brushed his lips against hers.
Lis laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes, falling asleep to the sound of his heart beating.
Nick rolled over in bed and looked at the the empty bed. He sat up and looked around, no trace of her anywhere. One thing was for certain he didn't dream the events of the night before. He smiled remembering what had happened as he slid his pajama bottoms on and walked down the hall to the guest room. "Lis?" he called, opening the door. The room was empty. Where'd you go? he thought as he walked through his house looking for her.
Han opened the unlocked door to Lis' place and walked inside. She saw Lis laying on the couch, blankly looking at the tv. "Hey! Is leaving the door unlocked a wise idea?" Han asked as she sat down on her favorite chair. Lis didn't acknowledge her.
"Hey Lis!" Han said, her voice louder then before.
"Oh...hey Han." Lis said finally, her eyes still on the television.
"You ok?" Han asked concerned, she'd never seen her friend act so out of it before.
"I guess yeah."
"Did something happen?"
Lis turned the tv off and stood up. "I really don't want to talk about it." she said, walking towards her kitchen. Han got up and followed her friend. She noticed the bandage on her arm.
"How'd you get that?"
Lis looked at the bandage. "This? Fighting. Hit a car windshield."
Han flinched, she hated pain. "How'd you bandage it yourself? It looks like a pretty good job."
Lis sighed and sat down with her juice. "Nick did it all right? Now can we please talk about something else!" she pleaded.
"Okay." Han knew something was up, Lis was acting the weirdest she'd ever seen her. "What do you want to do today?"
Forget about last night, Lis thought. "I should check in with Kevin."
Han nodded and got herself a drink from the fridge.
Alec looked over from her conversation with AJ when she saw Lis walk into the gym, a tall brunette behind her. "Hi Lis, back so soon?" Alec asked as Lis neared her.
"Yeah, need to get rid of some extra energy. Kev around?" Lis asked, looking around for him.
Alec pointed to the door behind the desk. "His office as usual."
"Thanks." Lis headed for the office, leaving Alec looking after her.
"Open!" Kevin called as Lis walked in and closed the door behind her.
"Is there any way to get rid of a protector?" Lis asked, crashing on the nearest chair.
Kev raised an eyebrow. "He doesn't find your sarcasm appealing?"
"Ugh! Just...nevermind."
"You ok?" he asked concerned.
Lis brushed the hair out of her face. "No I'm not ok. I'm getting nightmares again and their getting worse."
"Tell me about them. Maybe I can figure something out."
"You sure?" Lis asked uneasily.
"I am your watcher and whether you believe it or not your friend."
Lis sighed. "Fine." and so Lis started telling him about her dreams.
When she was done, Kevin was pacing the small office. "Your protector did he give you anything?"
"What do you mean?" Lis asked defensively.
"Information wise."
"Just that there was a new group of vamps in town and that was about it on that subject."
Kevin pulled a few books out of his desk drawer. "A few things sound familiar. I'll check the books and see what I find. You going to work out?"
"And here I thought I was making a fashion statement in my workout suit." Lis said getting up. "I'll check back with you before I leave."
Kevin nodded and watched as she walked to the door. "Lis?"
She turned around to look at him. "Yeah?"
"Next time you see your protector, ask him if he knows anything else."
"Yeah sure." Lis said, walking out of the office, silently hoping her protector would just disappear.
Alec waited till Lis had left before she went barging into Kev's office. She slammed the door and looked at him. He was in a trancelike state, reading a book. "Kevin?" He looked at her. "Now now Alec. I'm a bit busy."
"So I see. Are you having an affair with her?"
Kevin looked at his girlfriend wide eyed then burst out laughing.
"Well? Answer me damnit!" she said, yanking the book out of his hands.
"I'm not. I'm just helping her with something. Now kindly give me back my book."
"I think not." she glanced down at the book in her hands. "The Vampire Chronicles?" What the?"
"Long story." he said, pulling the book out of her hands.
She sat down. "So fill me in."
"I can't."
"Your lying. Yes you can."
"Your as bad as she is." Kevin said leaning back in his chair.
Alec raised an eyebrow.
"Fine, but what I'm about to tell you doesn't leave this room." she nodded and listened intently to Kevin tell his story.
