Mortals

Tessa Noel

In brief:
-Born August 2, 1958.
-1980 While working as a tour guide on the Seine she meets Duncan as he leaps onto her boat and corrects her about the year of Notre Dam's completion.
-1983 Duncan tells Tessa of his immortality.
-1992 She meets Conner and see's her first quickening.
-1993 She is shot and killed over a chunk of change.

Tessa was Duncan's soulmate. They spent 13 years together, and she was the first lover he told of his immortality. She was vibrant and strong. She attended the Sorbon and was a sculptor. She created a piece for the Seacover's Centenial, and then gathered pieces for an exhibition in Paris. She made Duncan feel mortal. She gave up any semblance of a normal life in order to be with him, and in return kept the passion of life coursing through her veins.

(Tessa is in Season One and Season Two through "The Darkness", Alexandra Vandernoot is also in "Counterfeit I & II" Season Two, and "Not To Be" Season Six)

Joe Dawson

Born around 1949. In high school he dated Betsy Fields. "All city, all state, . . . we were the fotball hero and the prom queen."

In 1968 Joe found himself in Vietnam, the Boy Scout. When snipers hit his platoon he stepped on a land mine. Sargeant Cord carried him 16 miles on his back to an army hospital. There his legs were amputated. Just prior to attempting suicide he met Ian Bankroft who tells him about immortals. "Who are they? Why are they here? Biggest questions on earth Joe. That's why we watch. Why we record their lives. Why we don't interfere. You could belong."

His first year at the academy gave Joe an interesting past. He was up late working with another student, they had dinner, some wine, and then a daughter Amy. The woman was married, and they agreed to let Amy believe the woman's husband was her father.

Joe started watching Duncan in approximatly 1978. "I know who you've loved, I know who you've killed, I know it all."

Duncan first found Joe in 1993. Joe was working at a book store owned by Horton, his brother-in-law. He tries to protect both of them, and after saving Horton once, ends up killing him to save Duncan and the watchers.

Joe owns a bar in Seacover, where the best of the blues and single malts are to be found. He interferes, but he has honor(and one hell of a voice!).

Joe's friendship with Duncan brings a lot of challenges to his life, but none perhaps as great as when Ahriman pays him a visit.
"To think I'd sell my soul for a god damned pair of legs."

Methos and Duncan are 'buddies', and do manage to get in a fair amount of trouble together. Duncan and Joe had a very rocky friendship at the start, and discrepencies between watcher rules and friendship always abound, but a truer friend is hard to find.

(Joe appeares in "The Watchers" Season Two, and appears throughout all of the seasons after that, and briefly in Endgame)

Charlie DeSalvo

The original owner of the Dojo, Charlie always tried to give something back to his community. He was a rather curious friend, which landed him in the hospital when Xavier came around.

He fell in love with Mara and followed her to help her country (Bosnia?) through civil war. He was killed by Andrew Cord, and died in Duncan's arms.

(Charlie first appears in "Turnabout" Season Two. His is consistantly in the show in Season Two through Three in the episodes "Eye for an Eye" to "Unholy Alliance I & II", and "The Samauri" to "The Revolutionary". His last appearance was in "Brothers in Arms" Season Four)

Dr. Anne Lindsey

An ER doctor who's very buisness like (and loves mousy brown). She is captivated by the mystery of Duncan, and see's him die at Kalas's hands.

Duncan explains his immortality to her, and she discloses that she is pregnant. They attempt to make things work, but she ends up returning to Seacover.

Duncan refinishes a home and gives it to her as a gift for Mary(the daughter). (she's also not so wise about avoiding gas explosions while pregnant).

(Ann first is seen in "Right of Passage" Season Three. She appears until "Song of the Executioner", and reappears for "Testimony" and "Mortal Sins" in Season Three, "Reunion" and "The Blitz" in Season Four)

Maurice

"Everyone knows Maurice!"
"Does everyone find you in their bathroom?!!"

Duncan first meets Maurice as he steps out of the Barge's shower(with Duncan's toothbrush no less!). He is living on the barge next door. A mastor chief, he begins to work at a restaruant and is later involved(never clear as to how) with the Blues Bar in Paris, and truly, everybody loves Maurice.

We also know that when his wife died, Maurice turned to alcohol. He had a niece who was killed by an immortal.

(maurice first appears in "Unholy Alliance II" in Season Two. He is a reoccuring character in the Paris episodes until "Star Crossed" Season Three. He is mentioned in Season Six, as apparently the Blues Bar is related to him somehow)
