Snake is back as a loner, who has the odds stacked against him as much now as when he was in New York. Now he must face his greatest challenge, which could mean his life.
If you remember Escape From New York, which was 15 years ago and now it's the year 2013, you'll remember that Snake was sent to a maximum security prison, the once great city of New York, so that he could rescue the President from a gang of immates. To insure that Snake would succeed in his mission, the government injected tiny explosives in his neck. Well this story runs along the same kind of storyline. Plissken is injected with a genetically engineered virus this time. He has only 10 short hours to make a deal with the President of the United States and capture the President's daughter, who stole a top secret "Black Box" from a space defense lab. She gave the box to the deadly Third World villian, Cuervo Jones. If he can deliver Utopia and the box to the President in time, he will get the viral antidote. As Snake realizes what the box holds, he knows that whoever has the box, has the fate of the world in his hand.
Kurt Russell:about his character,"Nobody has ever been as socially unredeemable as Snake Plissken."
Debra Hill:co-writer and producer, describes Snake as the"meanest, baddest anti-hero on the screen today."
John Carpenter:"When my ancestors set foot on Plymouth Rock, their attitude was, 'Don't push me around.' So I'm a quiet hater of authority. Only with a dominatrix do I give in to it."
Did you know?
Escape From New York cost $7 million to produce. Escape From L.A. had a budget of $50 million.
You'll see some well-known sites including Universal Studios Hollywood, where a submarine goes cruising through the San Fernando Valley, which is now underwater, and hits the King Kong attraction.
Kurt still has the costume that he wore in Escape From New York 15 years ago. It is the only costume that he ever kept.
It took 70 nights of shooting to finish. Shooting started on Dec. 11, 1995.
Kurt earned $10 million for making this sequel.

From Cinescape:
Over in Beverly Hills the former enclave of the rich and famous has taken a decidedly ugly turn-thanks to one ghoulish resident, the Surgeon General (played by Bruce Campbell). 'Basically,' explains Carpenter, 'Beverly Hills is inhabited by these surgical failures who have had too many facelifts and implants over the years. Their muscles have turned to Jell-O, so they have to keep transplanting body parts over and over to stay alive.'"
Kurt Russell:my favoritesEscape From New York, Stargate, Unlawful Entry, Captain Ron, Backdraft, Big Trouble in Little China, and Overboard...and more, Executive Decision, Tombstone, The Thing, and the new to be released Breakdown.
John Carpenter:In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned, and The Fog (my favorite).
Debra Hill:The Fog and Halloween (both favorites of mine).
How about two more for the road!
