The next day, the twins started to pack for the modeling session.

“Liz,” Jessica groaned. “You cannot take this navy blue, full sleeved dress to New York for god’s sake. Can’t you pick something sexier and more attractive?”

Elizabeth sighed and removed the dress from her bag. She had a bad feeling about this trip.

Finally the twins were packed and ready to go. Jessica was jumping all around the room with excitement while Elizabeth was desperately trying to get the room a bit tidier.

“Jess,” she said. “Was there any need to turn the room into a rummage sale?? I can’t even see the floor!”

Suddenly, the phone rang. Jessica ran to pick it up. “Hello, Jessica speaking.”

“Hi, Jessica. This is Tom. Is Liz there.” Jessica turned to Elizabeth and mouthed the word Tom.

“Tell him, I don’t feel like talking.” Elizabeth answered, her eyes filling with tears again. “Tell him, I’m too busy.”

“He says he has to tell you something important.” Jessica replied, covering the speaker. Elizabeth took the receiver.

“Liz, is that you?” Tom asked.

“Sorry to disappoint you, but yes.” Elizabeth replied, coldly. “What do you want to say, Tom? Hurry up, I don’t have much time.”

“Hey, Liz. What’s up?? Did I say something wrong?” Tom’s voice was filled with astonishment.

“No you didn’t, now get on with whatever you want to say. I told you I was busy.” Elizabeth tried to sound cold, but a quaver in her voice gave her away.

“I just wanted to know if you wanted to go for dinner today. A friend of mine is holding a party, and he invited me.”

“No, I’m not interested. But I’m sure you can get someone else to go with you. Someone who’ll be delighted at your invitation.” Elizabeth slammed down the receiver and started crying. The phone rang again, and she wiped her eyes and picked it up.

“Hello, Liz.” It was Tom. “What did you mean by that?? What’s wrong, Liz?? Did I do something wrong?” He sounded puzzled.

"As if you didn't know, Tom. I'm not blind." Elizabeth sobbed. "Why don't you invite your new girlfriend to that stupid dinner?"

"My new girl friend? Liz, you're my girlfriend. What in the world are you talking about??" Tom questioned.

"Tom, I saw it all. I know about that stupid girl, who ever she is, and you'd better not deny it. You can go marry her, for all I care."

Elizabeth screamed hysterically, and put the phone down. Then she started sobbing heartbrokenly, while Jessica tried to console her invain.

"Liz, forget about Tom. Tomorrow we're going to New York, where you can meet a lot of gorgeous guys, without worrying about cheating on Tom." Somehow Jessica's attempt to cheer her up wasn't working. She didn’t want to meet a new guy. She didn’t think she would ever get over Tom. The only reason she was going to New York was Jessica. As usual, Jessica managed to badger her into something she didn’t want to do, and knew she would regret later.

“Liz, hurry up! We’re going to miss the plane” Jessica wailed. The modeling company had bought them plane tickets to New York. Elizabeth was busy checking if they had packed everything.

“Toothbrush, toothpaste…. Check, Plane tickets….Check” She murmured to herself, while Jessica waited impatiently.

“Liz, the taxi’s come.” Jesica said, excitedly, looking out of the window. She started to haul all her bags and suitcases to the door.

“My god, Jess, did you have to take so much stuff? It’s only for a week, y’know. When will you get the time to wear all these outfits??” Elizabeth exclaimed. She had only one small suitcase, and a small bag.

“Stop cribbing, Liz, and help me carry these.” Jessica retorted.

She couldn’t understrand how Elizabeth would manage with so few clothes, but in one way it was good, now Elizabeth could help with herluggage.

“Sorry, Jess, but you got us into this, and you’ll have to put up with it. I’m not going to help you. It’s your problem.”Elizabeth said, opening the door, and walking out, leaving Jessica gaping after her in astonishment.

Finally they were both in the taxi, all their luggage safely in the dicky. A few bags didn’t fit their, and were stuffed between theirlegs.

“Liz, we’ve reached the airport. Aren’t you excited??” Jessica exclaimed looking at Elizabeth’s dull face. She opened the door, and ran out pulling Elizabeth behind her. They called a porter for Jessica’s luggage, and finally were seated in the aeroplane. Now, even Elizabeth had been effected by Jessica’s contagious excitement, and enthusiasm. Maybe it wouldn’t be that bad…….
