Jessica Wakefield walked slowly away from her parents backyard after the wedding services of her Aunt Sylvia and new Uncle Carl and into her parents split level ranch style house, while sorting through all the emotional thoughts going through her mind.

How could I just tell Mike it was over, thought Jessica with great sadness.

A few days before, Jessica and her ex-husband Mike McAllery had tried to reconcile for a brief few days, but it had only led to arguments and pain for Jessica, so, in the end she had told Mike it would be better if they left things as just friends to avoid hurt later.

She was now having second thoughts. If she really thought about it, she truly loved Mike and didn’t know how she could live without him in her life. She had gone out with a number of guys after him and she really hadn’t connected with any of hem like shedid with Mike. He understood her better then anyone, except her identical twin sister,Elizabeth.

She broke into a run towards her red jeep she shared with her sister. She knew what she had to do. She had to drive over to Mike’s house and hope that he would take her back.

As she started driving towards Mike’s apartment she started nervously tapping her nails on the steering wheel. What if he didn’t take her back? How would she live withthat? She drove the last few miles and pulled into a free parking space in front of Mike’s apartment. She opened her car door and slammed it shut. She ran towards the entrance, ran up the stairs, and knocked on Mike’s door. The door swung open revealingMike’s handsome face.

“What are you doing here, Jess,” Mike asked with uncertainty. Pain tinged his golden eyes. His eyes red rimmed and it looked as if he had been crying.

All at once Jessica broke down and cried,” Oh, Mike. I as wrong to let you go. I came back here to ask you if you would take me back. Mike, please. I have realized thatwe’re perfect for each other.”

Mike opened his mouth to say something, but Jessica cut him off,” No! Don’t say anything yet. I am not done. Sure, we have had are ups and downs, but what couple doesn’t?” She grabbed his hands as she spoke,” Please, give us another chance, Mike.Don’t you think we deserve another chance?”

Mike looked at for a few seconds before opening his mouth to speak, ”Jess, you really hurt me when you turned me down before. If you remember it wasn’t the first time either. You have turned me down before. Remember? When I asked you to remarry me?You said no. You weren’t ready. It was the same thing this time. You said again this time and I quote ‘Mike, I still need to finish school and do a whole lot of other things. Things were just to intense.’ How do you know your ready now? I don’t think I can stand anymore of this hot cold stuff from you. One minute your all over me saying you adore me and can’t get enough of me, then you go and say that you’ve had enough.”

“Mike, it’s different now. I have thought it over and I just can’t see myself without you anymore. Please, don’t turn me down.” Jessica broke down into sobs right then sinking down to her knees of Mike’s plush carpet, “I love you. I don’t want to lose you.”

She looked up into his eyes that were starting to fill with tears too.

He sank to the floor beside her and wrapped warm muscular arms around her thin shoulders, “Shh...Its OK.”

He tipped her chin up and looked into her blue green eyes andwhispered, “I love you, too. So, its you and me now?”

Jessica smiled through her tears, “Yes! Just you and me.”
