"We're almost there," Jessica told everyone.
"Good, because my feet are killing me!" Lila complained.
Everyone groaned and rolled their eyes. Although Jessica couldn't be happier that they were finally free, a small part of her wished that they were still in the ‘secret' room, exploring all the old stuff. Jessica had to admit that so far their trip to Mexico had been quite an adventure. Jessica had thought about going back and exploring the secret room, but the only problem was that she nor her friends could remember what routes and tunnels they took to get there.
"Too bad we don't remember how to get back to the secret room," Winston said, as if reading Jessica's mind.
"Yeah," Ken agreed. "It would of been so cool if we could actually prove that we found a secret room buried in the depths of the Mexican pyramids."
"True, but I wouldn't want to get lost in there again!" Todd commented.
"I thought it was kind of fun, though," Elizabeth said with a smile.
"Yeah. I can't decide what was more fun, being trapped in the dingy room or being held hostage by the scary man with the gun," Lila said sarcastically, kicking a stone on the way.
"Actually," Jessica started. "I'm going to have to agree with Liz on this."
"What?" everyone yelled in unison.
"Are you feeling okay?" Amy asked, genuinely concerned.
"It's probably the stuffy air in the pyramid that got to her," Winston reasoned.
Jessica gave Winston a look. "No Winston. As a matter of fact, I thought that it was cool because I, uh, I mean we, actually discovered a secret room that no one has been in ages, and found real gold!" Jessica paused for a second. "Of course it would of been even more great if we actually had the gold with us and remember where the room was."
"I don't know about you guys, but I got a little souvenir," Winston announced.
"What are you talking about?" Jessica demanded.
Winston reached into his pockets and pulled out seven old coins.
"Winston!" Elizabeth exclaimed. "You weren't suppose to take anything!"
"Cool!" Ken and Todd said at the same time.
"Chill, Liz. If you keep up the negative attitude, I won't give any to you," Winston warned.
"But it's not ours!" Elizabeth protested.
"Oh come on, Liz," Jessica said. "It's only one lousy coin. It's not worth that much!"
"I don't know. . ." Elizabeth begun.
"Don't be such a worrywart, Liz," Jessica said. "Just think of it as a souvenir of Mexi-"
"Hey! There back!" Mr. Bowman called out.
"Actually, you didn't find it, you kicked the wall and that is where the button happened to be," Elizabeth corrected.
"Details, details," Jessica waving her hand, along with the fork with mashed potatoes on it.
"Jessica, please," Mrs. Wakefield said, warning her about the flying mashed potatoes.
"Sorry mom," Jessica apologized.
It was seven o' clock and the Wakefields were in the middle of eating dinner. It was just three hours ago when Jessica and Elizabeth came back from their trip in Mexico. Everyone was listening while Jessica and Elizabeth told them about their adventure.
"Anyway," Elizabeth continued, "the room was quite small, but it was so breath taking. Everything about it was enchanting. The desk... the selves...the chest full of gold..."
"I still don't buy that story about the chest full of gold," Steven told the twins.
"But Steven, we've got proof," Elizabeth protested, holding up her gold coin.
"How do I know that's just not something you bought from the souvenir shop?" he questioned.
"Because, we showed it to the lady expert there and she said it was," Jessica shot back.
"We're just lucky that the people there let us keep it," Elizabeth said. "And to think that Jessica and Winston almost convinced me not to tell them about it-"
"There's no need to reveal everything Elizabeth," Jessica cut in nervously, looking at her parents disappointed faces.
"You girls seemed to have quite a wild time there!" Mr. Wakefield commented.
"Oh we did!" Jessica said cheerfully.
"Jessica, weren't you the one that kept complaining the whole time we were in the pyramid?" Elizabeth asked her sister sweetly.
"Who moi? No, that was Lila," Jessica said confidently, then looked around the table to see if anyone bought that.
"I sure had fun too!" Steven announced. "I felt like I was in paradise when you two were gone. And now..."
"You're even happier because we're back," Jessica finished.
"That's not exactly what I was going to say," Steven said.
"Oh yeah, well maybe because you're-"
"Jessica. Steven. That's enough," Mr. Wakefield warned.
"Sorry dad," Jessica and Steven said in unison.
"So, would you girls want to go through that again?" Mrs. Wakefield asked.
Jessica looked at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth looked at Jessica.
"Do you need help with the dishes mom?" Jessica quickly asked.
"I could help too," Elizabeth volunteered.
The twins rushed off into the kitchen, leaving their family without an answer.
"I guess that was a no," Mr. Wakefield said.
"Maybe the girls had a little TOO much fun," Mrs. Wakefield said.
"Maybe!" the girls yelled from the kitchen.
