The New World of Leonard Nimoy

This album is perhaps the most difficult of the Nimoy DOT recordings to find. It's catalog number is DLP25966 and was released in 1970 by DOT records, which was owned of course by Paramount's parent company, then-known as Gulf + Western.

Leonard Nimoy sings songs by Steve Clark & Ben Benay. Popular folk songs such as "The Sun Will Rise" by Nimoy himself are included to line his pockets with 30 pieces of silver so he'll forget what a travesty this album is.

It had some of his more infamous covers on it including "Proud Mary," "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town", and "I Walk the Line" (Johnny Cash is rolling over in his grave now... ) At least Nimoy is better than Telly Savalas.
It seemed to be more lackluster than the rest of his albums with not very imaginative musical settings (unlike the slightly unusual stuff that would turn up on his earlier albums). I think a lot of that earlier, weird stuff was conceived by Charles Randolph Green who was dead by the time "New World" came out.
