ADA Jamie Ross -- divorced, young daughter

Carey Lowell joins the cast of the critically acclaimed drama series LAW & ORDER as Assistant District Attorney Jamie Ross for the series' seventh season.

Best know for her role in the James Bond thriller "License To Kill," Lowell has numerous feature film and television appearances to her credit.

A departure from previous ADAs on the series, the role of Jamie Ross is that of a tough and ambitious former defense attorney who is also a single mother.

Born in Huntington, Long Island, Lowell's geologistfather moved the family often, and while growing up, Lowell lived in Tripoli, Libya, Holland, Houston, France and Denver.

She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for her freshman year and then moved to New York City to start a career in modeling. While in New York, she studied literature at New York University and began to study acting.

Her feature film credits, in addition to "License To Kill" for MGM/UA (opposite Timothy Dalton) include: "Sleepless in Seattle," "Leaving Las Vegas," "The Guardian," and she will soon be seen in an upcoming Universal film "Fierce Creatures," which will re-team the cast from "A Fish Called Wanda." Lowell's television credits include a lead role in the television series "A League of Their Own" directed by Penny Marshall for CBS.

Lowell resides in New York with her daughter.
