YOU GOTTA HAVE FRIENDS
OLTL’s Nathan Purdee (Hank) and Robert S. Woods(Bo)
Soap Opera Digest (July 22,1997)

First Impressions

Purdee: "I just liked the guy. I thought he was very funny and I would ask him to go places, but he would always say no. Woods was like a challenge to me. I thought, 'This guy and I, we're going to be friends whether he likes it or not.'"

Birds Of A Feather

Woods: "We've got so much in common. He has a little boy, Taylor, who's 5. I have Tanner, who's 6. We both smoke cigars."

Purdee: "When we discovered that we both liked smoking cigars, that was it. We became like boyfriend and girlfriend-inseparable."

Laugh Though Your Nose Is Aching

Purdee: "I wanted to take Woods to the Motown Cafe, and he just wanted to go home. Finally, he broke down and said, 'Okay, I'll go.' So, we're having burgers and a beer, and the music is jamming. Bobby's bobbing his head and tapping his foot, and he looks at me and says, 'This place is great. Thank you for bringing me.' I took a sip of beer and said, 'Yeah, just another thing you didn't want to do.' . He laughed so hard that beer actually came out of his nose. That was the hardest we've ever laughed together."

Bosom Buddies

Woods: "I would say he's my closest confidante on the show. In the Army, you'd' call us a--hole buddies. We're sort of in the trenches. We're dealing with work -- the highs and the lows. Nathan's always pretty high and that's good for me because I can be a real grump."

Purdee: "I really felt like Woods and I were the Lone Rangers [at OLTL]. He's been good for me, because if I'm not hanging out with my wife, chances are, I'm alone. Bobby's got a great heart and if he's your friend, he's your friend."
