Phone Call from JonathanPhone Call from Jonathan Taylor Thomas
I won the "Embrace our Environment" contest at Celebrity Sightings in which I won a phone call from Jonathan Taylor Thomas. To enter I wrote about what I had been doing to help save the environment and my feelings on the issue. On Monday, Dec. 22 Jonathan called. Well, Jonathan's agent (whose name is also Jonathan and who I will refer to as Jon from now on) made the call. Jon said that Jonathan and he were in the car at the moment, going Christmas shopping, and that they were going to do the call now. I, of course, agreed and Jon then handed the phone to Jonathan. After the Hi, how are you doings? he told me that I was doing a great job with the environmental work I was doing. I said thanks and that he was also doing a great job with all of the charity work he has supported and helped out with. And I thanked him for calling. Then he asked where in Wisconsin I lived. I told him, and, knowing that he would have never heard of it before, said it was near Green Bay. He asked "So, are you a football fan?" (Why must everyone associate GB with the GB Packers? :-) I said "no, not really......but basically everyone around here is." Then he asked me what grade I was in. I said a senior and then he said, "Oh! Do you have any plans for college?" I said that I had been accepted by Steven's Point and Northland and that he had probably never heard of them. Jonathan asked if they were in Wisconsin, and I said yes, but that they had great environmental departments and that was why I would be going to one of them because I am going to major in environmental science or wildlife. Then I asked him what he would be doing for Christmas. Jonathan said that he would be spending Christmas day with his family and "would probably go skiing later....and yourself?" I told him I was going to be spending Christmas at my grandmother's with the rest of my family and the day after Christmas my friend from Michigan was visiting. And then he said he had to go. So, we wished each other Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I told him thanks for calling, we said goodbye, and he handed the phone back to Jon. I talked to him for a little bit. I told him thanks and thanks again to Jonathan for calling. And then we hung up. I was a little surprised, but definitely glad, that Jonathan was interested in who I am and I what I am doing. The phone call was around 3 minutes (though it felt like a few seconds). To pass on the thoughts of Jonathan and to say something that I have always believed in, keep on helping out whenever you can. If you haven't done any volunteer work, give it a try. I'm sure you will like it. Some of you may think there is no hope, but every little thing really does make a difference. The feeling that you get from knowing you have helped someone and made a difference in the world is worth more than any money you could ever receive. You can be positive that this was Jonathan on the phone, so please do not email me telling me that it might have been an impersonator. The contest was held by Celebrity Sightings, Jonathan's official website, so I am certain that it was him on the other end of the line. (Yes, you should be cautious of impersonators but this does not apply when anyone has won a contest at Celebrity Sightings. This is the only site that Jonathan will ever chat at (and he will ONLY chat as Jonathan-cs) so if you run into anyone that claims to be Jonathan in a different chat room, it is not him.) A HUGE thank you to Celebrity Sightings and Jonathan for helping make one of my dreams come true!Back home
