The Lounge

According to an issue of The Shipbulider released in 1911, the first-class lounge was "...a noble apartment in the Lous Quinze style, the details being taken from the Palace of Versailles."

Our lounge was beautiful. Plush loveseats, sofas, and chairs are seated near tables so that our guest could play cards, read, drink tea, or whatever was their fancy. On the mantle is a copy of the classic statute, Artemis of Verailles. The orginal is now in the Louvre. Our copy was made of a zinc alloy called spelter and then was painted bronze.

In my opinion, the windows in the lounge were some of the most beautiful. They were leaded and made partially of stained glass.
