WHY ISN'T ODYSSEY SHOWING SEASON TWO OF LONESOME DOVE??
"Rosilyn" wrote to us to say she had posed that very question to the Odyssey network. She reports that the Odyssey Channel finds season two unsuitable due to the violence. She also reports that the Odyssey folks told her they are screening season two to see if any of the episodes would potentially be suitable. Rosilyn also made the excellent suggestion that they show them at a later hour (gosh - who has kids up watching tv at 11 p.m. anyway??).

A reader who identifies himself as "CaptWFCall" asked: Who played "Iron Bow" in the LD TV series?
Answer: (from "Bellicose Bill") August Shcllenberg played Iron Bow. He was also in "Geronimo", "Crazy Horse", and "Black Robe".

Is there anywhere I may purchase video copies of the show's episodes?
- No, Rysher does not sell the video copies of LD as of yet, unlike
they do of HIGHLANDER. There was a recent rumor that they could be found at REEL.COM. However, word has it that there is some confusion over there and people who thought they were ordering the tv series ended up with the three movie boxed set based on The McMurty Books. Not so bad, but if it's not what you ordered, then that's an issue. Attempts to clarify with their customer service department have been...well....less that helpful.
Online buddy Rosilyn (a wealth of info!) recently tried to contact Hallmark Entertainment about this very subject. According to her contact, Hallmark does not currently have the home video release rights. However, if you want to make a plea for the release onto video, please try the following (per Hallmark):

- How old is Mosby?
- According to the series, Mosby was 23 when he lost "everything," which would have been at the end of the war in 1865. In 1880, he'd be 37 or 38.
- Where is Curtis Wells?
- LD was shot near Calgary. The show takes place in Montana. After
that, the exact location is hard to peg. Many people on the list prefer
to think CW is set near Mosby, MT, which is in central-eastern Montana,
near to Miles City. Others (like Darcie) prefer to think CW is set in
western Montana, where the physical geography fits, as well where all
the mining took place. For you die hards, there actually is an Austin,
MT, which is near Helena.

- Is Hannah really dead?
- Yes. Call left directly after the explosion which took her life. Mosby had her buried. The memorial headstone dates Hannah's death at 1878. However, during an e-online chat, Scott alluded to Hannah's possible return if there had been a third season. A chat with Eric yielded the exact opposite response. Hmmm....we need to get these guys on the same page!
- Why was there such a drastic difference between LD:TS and LD:TOY (1st and 2nd season)?
- I believe that the producers wanted to increase ratings by appealing to a younger, male audience. The aim was to make the series more like UNFORGIVEN, not LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE.
- Is the show really cancelled? What was planned for the third season?
- Yes, unfortunately, the show was cancelled. I don't know what was planned for the third season. The executives at Rysher did not want to give out that information, according to some of my sources. Scott said in one chat that he had hoped to do some directing. Eric mentioned in another chat that it was going to be Lonesome Dove: The Salon Years - I think they were going to convert the pig trough or something into a sink to wash all of that dirty hair. LOL! That Eric has quite a sense of humor.

- Scott Bairstow - just wrapped up a season on Party of Five, and has signed on as one of the stars of a new SCI-FI Adventure Show from the creator of the X-Files called "Harsh Realm". Episodes should air this fall.
Eric McCormack - currently stars as "Will" on "Will and Grace" on Tuesday nights. The show is on its way to a timeslot on Thursday ("MUST SEE TV") night! Good job!
Paul Johansson - currently stars in "The Raven" on FOX. Check local listings for times - airs on Saturdays. This is a pretty decent show.
