'Watch This Face'

Teen July 1997

Like a lot of teen actors, Vincent Kartheiser is getting his education at home. "It's great - but no prom, and that sucks," says the yummy 18-year-old up-and-comer who melted hears last year in 'Alaska'. this summer, you can catch Vincent in 'Masterminds', about an evil security expert who takes an elite private school hostage. It falls to Vinnie's character, skate rat/computer hacker/all around bad boy Ozzie Paxton, to save the school. "It's like 'Die Hard' meets 'Home Alone', but more on the 'Die Hard' side," says Vinnie with a to-die-for smile. "It was really fun!" Though his resume also includes the films 'Indian In The Cupboard', 'Little Big League' and 'Untamed Heart', Vinnie says acting hasn't always been such a blast. "By the time I was 14, I had been screen tested and rejected three times," remembers the Minnesota-born babe. "That hurts your heart, but I decided to give it all I had before getting out. That's when I got 'Indian In The Cupboard'." His next big project? College. "I want to go to UCLA [University of California, Los Angeles]," he says, adding that living in Los Angeles while cracking the books will help keep his career on course. "A guy's gotta audition, ya know?"
