Choosing Fast Foods

Different types of restaurants offer different cooking styles and food choices. A little background on the types of eateries around town can help you choose wisely.

Fast food: The favorite place to stop for a quick meal. These inexpensive places now sell a variety of foods, as well as hamburgers.

Positive choice: Pizza with vegetarian toppings Cautions: Pizza with pepperoni, sausage, or extra cheese

Positive choice: Broiled burger or chicken on whole-wheat bun Cautions: Supersized burger, fried chicken, fried fish, extra cheese

Positive choice: Lettuce, tomato added Cautions: Tartar sauce, mayonnaise, creamy sauces

Positive choice: Lowfat or skim milk Cautions: Shakes and soft drinks

Positive choice: Lightly buttered English muffin Cautions: Danish pastries or pie
