My BMX Site

Welcome to my Freestyle BMX page, I think that I might put a few how to's in.

THE BUNNYHOP. The bunnyhop is properly done by lifting the front end of the bike first and then-all at once-unweighting the rear end of the bike so you can clear whatever obstical gets in your rode. To get big air of jumps, you need to know how to bunnyhop because that is what you do just before the lip. It takes abit of practis to get good at bunnyhopping, keep practising and you may become the world champion. The record is well over a meter!
THE FAKEY OR ROLLBACK. Where you do an endo or ride halfway up a jump and then rollback out of it, it takes some practise but you will get there if you try hard. I find it easier to do it standing up, most people do it sitting down though.
THE WHEELIE. Everyone knows this one, sit down, pull up, and spin for as long as you can keep your balance. I am becoming to master this one, hehe.
THE MANUAL. A stand up, non pedling version of the wheelie, alot harder than doing a wheelie as well, I am starting to get good at these. It takes good balance to be able to stay up, keep a finger or two on the rear break to!
STALL, ABUBACA or also known as the BOOBLICKER. After going up a ramp, jump or something that is steep, do a bunnyhop and land on the lip of the jump with your back wheel. Stay up on the back wheel for a second then bunnyhop backwards and rollback down. Looks cool when done right.
GRINDING. When you are riding along and you see a bench, rail or smooth upraised surface. You bunnyhop up into the air with some speed and land with your pegs on the edge of the surface and grind away. There many different types of grinds.
180. When you pull on the front break and pivot on the front wheel 180 degrees. Helps if you turn you wheel 90 degrees before entering it.
ROCKWALK. After a 180 land on your back wheel, pull up and pivot on your back wheel another 180 degrees. You can link rockwalks so that you can keep on going, my best is about 5 in a row.
360 BUNNYHOP. A bunnyhop that you spin 180 degrees when in the air, land on your back wheel and pivot another 180 degrees, 180 + 180 = 360.
TAILWHIP. A tailwhip is where the frame does a 360 but you don't, it can be done in the air or on flat ground(I can only do them flat ground). To do them on the ground you need to be rolling forward, if you want the frame to spin anticlockwise you put your right foot over the top tube and then onto the front tire. When your foot hits the tire pull on your front break and push your left foot into the frame so it spins, if all goes to plan you will catch the top tube with your left foot as it comes around then jump on the pedals and ride off. Take a look at the pic below, I am halfway through a tailwhip there.
BARSPIN. As the title sugests you spin the bars. On flat ground the easiest way to do it is to stand on your rear peg with one foot and the other foot on a pedal. Now pull up slighty and spin the bars, catch them as they come around then ride off. It's a fairly simple trick but requires balance when you get to two or three, I pulled a triple today!
HANG FIVE. This is where you stand on your rear peg(whichever is the most comforable) with one foot and the other foot out the back for balance the pull up and coast along on your rear wheel using the foot that isn't on the peg for balance, Just today I did one for about fifty meters then turned it into a 360 by leaning the bike over a bit on it's side. That's how you turn.
CHERRY PICKER. A hopping balance trick where the bike is upright and you stand over the head tube with both feet on the seat tube. You just hop up there to keep balance.
NO FOOTED ENDO. The same as a normal endo exept once you get to the peek of the endo sit down on your seat and take your feet off of the pedals, then when you start to come down put your feet back on the pedals stand up and ride off.
DECADE. This is a rather difficult trick. It involves jumping around the headtube while the front wheel is in the air. It is done by starting of with your left foot on the left rear peg and your right foot on the toptube where the seat goes through. Go along slowly in this position then do a little endo rock back then jump over the head tube landing with your left foot on the toptube where your right foot was. It requires a fair bit of practise to get a decade, it is posible to do multiple decades as well!.
Well that's about it for your first lesson, next we move onto more complecated tricks, guess I will need to learn them before I teach them hey. Well I hope that these helped, good luck!
