‘’”IT WAS THE LAST DAY’
On Friday, Nov.7,1992 it was a beautiful day
and I felt as thou I had just been injected with a B12
shot.
I was up and out early traveling through the city
of Asheville,N.C. by 6am.
I knew that some of the streets that I was traveling
would be for the last time, because this was my
last full day after alot of hard work.
I had three journals that were being passed as the
day passed on, so that I could try and remember
“special friends” that I had made
while searching for a “new Me”.
2pm came and it was time to meet with
my attending physician & psychiatrist
after requesting for a week early discharge.
It was hard saying good-bye, but my time was up,
and it was time for someone else to take on the challenge
of turning corner’s each day whether it was on the road
in a group session, working with exposure therapy,
taking time out to say hello to a friend, or to just
give myself permission to take a day off.
3pm on the second floor of App.Hall was Gateways
and each Friday we had a community meeting.
This meeting was emotional before it ever was started
and “yours truely” was the standing president.
This would be the day that my crown was passed on
as I passed around to everyone “lifesavers” & a copy
of the following that was read with tears in my
“voice”
as well as
“tears flowing”. . .
