Hip pain / pelvic pain Homepage !
I wanted to write a homepage about hip pain / pelvic pain during pregnancy because I've had this myself, and I'm still disabled 3 years after the birth.
I use cruthes when I walk out of the house.
We are both nurses and works at the hospital here in Tromsų.
To support the physical and metabolic reqirements of a pregnancy, the body must make some radical changes. There are several theories as to what is the cause of low back pain in pregnant women. It's agreed upon most authors that low back pain in pregnancy is in some ways due to the effects of relaxin.
What is relaxin ? It's a hormone that is present during the normal menstrual cycle, but peaks during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.
Relaxin causes the ligaments from the uterus and pelvic ligaments to relaxate.
In the normal pregnancy this relaxation appears the last weeks of the pregnancy to help with delivery. The babys head then easier delivers when the hormone relaxate ligaments and give mor flexibility of the symphysis pubis and iliosacralic joints.
The symphysis pubis is what is common known as the pubic bone.
The sacroiliac joints are located in the back of the pelvis, underneath the gluteal muscles.
