Hi, I'm Ronnee.
. . .
I was born in a log cabin on a cold, wintry night. We had no electricity and no plumbing, and poor Pa had to go into the woods to chop firewood. . . . . . . . . whoops, wrong story.
My Background
I was born and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts
and have lived in Massachusetts all my life. Many of you may have heard
of Brookline. It has been home to some famous residents such as Mike Wallace
of 60 Minutes fame, Leonard Bernstein of the New York Philharmonic fame,
Alan Rachins of LA Law fame, President John F. Kennedy of President of
the United States fame, and me.
I met my husband in Brookline, we were married 43 years ago,
and we have two handsome, brilliant, wonderful
sons. My oldest wonderful son
had the good sense
to marry a wonderful lady
,
and they both had the good sense to present me with my wonderful
grandson
who I refer to as the Young Prince and my wonderful granddaughter
who I call the Little Princess. My youngest wonderful
son
recently
married his own wonderful
lady
,on June 7, 1998.
I bought myself a computer, played lots of games ,
composed a lot of letters
, and
decided that I was getting bored with it and needed some excitement, so
I joined Microsoft Network. I did a bit of exploring and found two forums
that suited my needs. The first was the Survivors Forum which included
the Women's Cancer Forum and the weekly breast cancer chat. Since I am
a breast cancer survivor, I decided to join the chat and post messages
to the Share Your Stories newsgroup. I also got involved with the Chronic Disease and
Disorders Forum (CD&D), because in addition to breast cancer, I have
fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). MSN has changed its format from Forums to Web Communities, so the original Survivors Forum and CD&D have been disbanded; however, they now exist as private web communities, and I am now assistant manager for the Women's Cancer Forum. I love what
I do. I have met so many wonderful people on line. In fact, I have several
pen pals from around the world and have had the good fortune to meet several
of them in person. Cyberspace has opened a whole new world for me.
A Little More History
Now, I suppose I should tell you a little about
myself - not what I do, but who I am. As I mentioned before, I grew up
in Massachusetts and am a New Englander through and through. I read a lot,
love music, especially
classical music,
and enjoy
going to the theater. I studied ballet and hoped someday to dance professionally
but I fell in love, got married,
and that ended my career aspirations, but I have never regretted it for
a single second. My husband and I share a love of the outdoors, and we
hike and mountain climb in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We are
both avid readers - he loves spy novels and I am a sucker for a good love
story or a murder mystery. I worked as a secretary/office manager for a cardiologist for 17 years. He retired in 1999, and rather than continue in the same profession, I decided to return to school to study computer graphics and web design, and I have recently started my own company which I call "Queen Bee Graphics". I enjoy watching sporting events,
especially figure skating and gymnastics. I also try to keep fit by eating
healthy foods and exercising three to four times a week. I am a wife and
mother, but I am no housewife. I don't like anything about housewifery.
Cleaning is a thankless job, cooking is even worse than that, and laundry
. . . .well forget it.
I do love being online, however, and I would like to share some of my favorite things with you.
So, let's get started. . . .
