"I Am A Survivor"
Imagine speaking these words and realizing
you are
talking about yourself.
You may have never pictured yourself as a survivor before,
But being able to speak these words will
empower you
Whether you speak them loudly,
Speak them softly,
Or even in another language,
You will speak them for every other woman
battling
breast
cancer.
Your voice will carry her through the
shadows,
Pull her out of the darkness,
Bring her into the light,
To dance once again.
She will have scars, no doubt,
Both within her soul and upon her flesh.
But with time, love, and patience,
They will become medals for the battle that
she fought,
And
won.
Survivor - What does this word
mean?
According to the dictionary,
A survivor is one who has lived or persisted through an ordeal.
But ask someone who has survived breast cancer,
Someone who has beaten the odds, be it
Your
mother,
Your
sister,
Your
aunt,
Your
grandmother,
Your
wife,
Your
daughter,
Your
friend,
Or
you.
And they will tell you that they have not only lived through it,
But
triumphed.
