MY JOURNAL

May 20,2005

I don't have much time to write in my journal because the house is filled aith family and friends. All eagerly anticipating the wedding tomorrow. The kids have been out in the yard doing all the yardwork that we couldn't get done or should I say are unable to do anymore. The food is cooking and the smells of Swedish Meatballs, Ham and everything else is just drifting throughout the house. My sis-in-law from S. Carolina came in a few days ago. I would be at a loss without her. She has been such a big help. The house looks beautiful and Lorna did more decorating than I even thought of so it does look so pretty inside. My brother Steve and his wife Sheila and girls Niki and Stacy are here from Michigan. They are so pretty. All the cousins are going out tonight to party.

I woke up to the most perfect day. We were all worried that it would rain and then we would not be able to have an outdoor wedding that my son wanted. My friend Kim just put the wedding arch up in front of the orange trees. We planted the trees a few years ago in memory of my father and mother and I was touched when John said he would like to be married there. I am sure that my mom and dad were standing next to John and Heather when they said their vows to each other. Everyone came that was invited and a few guests I was not expecting but was glad that they came. My son John looked so handsome dressed in his dress blues and Heather looked so pretty in her weding gown. The food was great and there was very little left overs so I guess everyone enjoyed the food. The house is quiet and empty right now and we are enjoying the silence. The cousins are all going to finish the wedding party at the hotel where the cousins are staying. I am going to bed. My legs and back are killing me. I almost did not make it back to the house after walking with the aide of my walker out to the arch where the wedding took place. I got within ten feet from the door and I kept telling myself, just a few more steps. My friend Peggy was ready to run in and get the wheel chair off the porch but I was bound and determined that I was not going to be in the wheel chair on the day of the wedding. I know it may sound stupid but it was important to me that I walked to the chair and back when the wedding was over with. I think what got me was when I stopped to talk to people who were on the lawn on my way to the arch

It is so quiet here . Jack has left for the airport to take his sis to catch her plane. John and Heather left last night to take Craig back to Atlanta and then they will catch the afternoon fight to England the next day. I am enjoying the quietness but am misty eyed that it is all over with and all my friends and family have gone home and there is no one in the house except me and the dog. I enjoyed having everyone here. It is so hard because family is so important to me and everyone lives so far away and we get together so seldom anymore.

I had to go see my doctor today. I can hardly walk. Each step I took was resulting in excruiating pain. I know that I overdid myself during the wedding. I am just so tired and guess I must have looked it when I walked into the Drs office and he took one look at me and said what happened to you?. You look totally worn out. He gave me a vitamin b shot in one arm and something else in the other. Energy is definitly not what I need. Sleep, sleep, sleep!!! Needless to say that by the time I crawled into bed, both my arms were aching and I am finding it hard to sleep. I would do everything all over again in a heartbeat just to see everyone looking so happy.

I must have picked a bug up when I went to the Dr's office or else my neighbor gave me what ever she had when she sat next to me at the wedding.

It has been so long since I have wrote in my journal. I have not been feeling all that well. Guess it must be some kind of bug going around. All it has done is rain here in Florida. Of course it doesn't cool it off any, just makes it very humid. I really shouldn't complain because of the high temperatures in Nevada. It has been 122 degrees there. I worry about my son and his family and I hope they are beeing careful to keeping themselves hydrated

Sept 21, 2005

There have been quite a few bad hurricanes so far this season. Last year Florida was hit with four in a row and it was not fun to be without electricty or water for six days. I think I miss the air-conditioning the most. The hurricane Katrina that hit New Orleans was so devastating and then to have another Hurricane Rita right behine it a few weeks later. I wish that I were a millionare and could build homes for these who lost their homes. We still have until November to the end of Hurricane season so lets all hope that the rest of the season will be mild.

I got to see my grandsons on web cam last night and it was really neat. I don't have web cam myself yet so they could not see me at this time. I was really surprised at how clear the pictures of Jake and Nick were. There is so much more to the computer world that I would like to learn in my lifetime. I do not know what I would do without my computer. I still need to get my lap top online so I can use it on the days it is hard to walk into the computer room. I have been having more and more days like that this week and of course when I finally decide enough is enough and make a doctors appointment, or should I say try....the doctor is out of town until next week. Hoping it will pass before then.
