Kauai - Day 3
Sun! We finally have sunshine. While Lisa and Richard were golfing, I lathered up with sunscreen and sat at the beach. The tradewinds are gentle and the palm trees whisper above me. What a glorious day! I can't believe I haven't been in the water yet. Lisa didn't get back from her round of golf until mid afternoon, and the wind picked up, so no snorkeling again today. We did get into the Garden Pool for a short swim and took a drive to take in the little local towns.
After showering and applying Noxema - yes, we both burned a little today - we had great sushi and entrees at Naniwa, the Japanese restaurant at the Sheraton.
We did some laundry and sipped on the "prize" champagne I won on the flight from LA. I hadn't opened a bottle of bubbly in a few years, so I stood inside the bathtub in case the cork went flying! Luckily there was only a gentle POP and no spillage.
We packed as we drank and talked about the events of the last few days. We are sad to be leaving Kauai, but look forward to new adventures on Maui. The staff at the Sheraton was so warm and friendly, the food was excellent and the facilities were excellent. The island itself is beyond description. You have to esperience the color of the soil, the fragrance of the flowers, the friendly smiles of the people, the sound of the surf, the warmth of the sun, and the power of Kauai's history. It has lived up to its name - The Garden Isle.
