I guess that just about everyone has read, or at least heard of, the poem "Footprints".  But, tell me, have you ever really stopped and considered just how many times in our lives we think that we are all alone like the man in the poem?  How many times do we fail to realize that the Lord is always there, that all we have to do is trust Him?  I know all too well how it is to get discouraged and lose faith--to feel that God is punishing you by putting you in those deepest valleys.  To feel that during the lowest and saddest times in your life, no one cares.  But have you ever realized that it's only when we are in those lonely, deep valleys that we can look up and see the majesty of the mountain tops?  That is God's way of giving us strength, of making us draw closer to Him because we know that the only way out of that valley is up.  And that's where He sits, waiting for us to make it up the mountain, and to meet Him there.  You know, He's always there.  And He'll help you to get to the summit if you'll only let Him.  And as in "Footprints", He'll even carry you when you can't walk on your own.

Won't you take a moment to read "Footprints" again?  And remind yourself anew that God is always with you--He will never leave you.
~FOOTPRINTS~
One night a man had a dream.  He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.  Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.  For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:  one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.  He noticed that many times along the path of his life, there was only one set of footprints.  He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him, and he questioned the Lord about it.  "Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You, You'd walk with me all the way.  But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.  I don't understand why when I needed You most You would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My son, my precious child, I love you, and would never leave you.  During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
