Staite will play Kaylee, the spaceship's mechanic. Filmjerk said the casting notes described the character as "young, chubby, sexy as hell, and
relentlessly cheery." The actress has done a number of roles for
Vancouver-based productions such as Higher Ground (Note from Rachael: This was a very good TV show. I watched it because of Jewel and it shouldn't have been cancelled), The Odyssey, Seven Days, The Immortal and also appeared in a third season episode of The X-Files.
In true X-FILES fashion, story details for the remaining episodes of the series are under tight wrap. The final five episodes will begin to provide highly anticipated answers to many of the show's most- asked questions, culminating in the two-hour finale in which Agent Mulder is reunited with Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) after having gone missing for the past year. Also, the final episodes of the series will examine many of the pieces involved in the long- running mythology that has continued throughout the show's nine seasons. The series finale is being written by series creator and executive producer Chris Carter and directed by co-executive producer Kim Manners.
In addition to appearing in the two-hour series finale, Duchovny is
also confirmed to direct THE X-FILES episode scheduled to air Sunday,
April 28 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), which is based on a story idea he co-
wrote with Carter and executive producer Frank Spotnitz.

This show needed a network like FOX who believed in it from the beginning. Their support over nine years turned the show from a cult phenomenon into an international hit, said Carter. He added, This has been an incredible decade of my life.
Sandy Grushow, Chairman, Fox Television Entertainment Group, commented, We respect Chris' wishes to end the show this season. He has devoted ten years of his life to his creation, which has been a tremendous asset to both the network and the studio, Grushow added, “We are incredibly proud to have been home to the series and are truly grateful for our partnership with Chris Carter.

Yes, I will miss the show when it signs off in May after nine seasons, a wise but overdue decision. The sorry fact is that I've been missing the series at least as it was in its prime for some time. The decline dates back to the fatal decision last season to continue without Duchovny's full-time services (he has been completely absent so far this year), a move that coincided with the unsatisfying announcement of Scully's miracle pregnancy: two "jump the shark" moments for the price of one.
The X-Files is nothing without Mulder, whose quest for elusive truths was
every bit as compelling as his provocative relationship with Scully, a deep
bond of mutual affection and respect.

I was amazed by how much of yesterday's news still talks to us today. For
example, with everyone's favorite conpspiracy series finally coming to an
end, it was fun to review what Frank Spotnitz, executive producer of The
X-Files, had to say back in issue 134, when it seemed as if the show was
about to go off the air: "I could go on forever, but I just think the time is
right. There is a point in time when I thought five seasons was going to be
it, and then we got two more years of life. And I think it feels right [to
finish] at the end of this season." He didn't realize at the time that there
were going to be another two seasons on top of that.
