Trencin
Devin Castle

Erected on a limestone rock it stretches over the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers. The castle hill was once a site
of a Roman fortress. According to the oldest written evidence the castle already existed in 864, but the castle hill, because of
the victinity of the Panonian Road, was most probably inhabited much earlier. Devin rankedamong to most important Greater
Moravian castles. It retained its strategic importance until the end of the 17th century. In 1809, it was destroyed by the
Napoleon armies.
The Keepp of Devin Castle

Build straight over the surface of the Danube and Morava rivers, its tower is a bastion of a mighty castle, now partly
reconstructed and preserved. Devin castle is a symbol of Slovak national awareness and of friendly relations among the Slavic
nations. Since 1836 it has been a venue of Slovak national pilgrimages initiated by the Stur's group.
Bratislava Castle

Inhabited from neolithic Hallstadt and Roman eras. First mentioned in 907. It reached its higest importance during the reign of
Queen Maria Theresa. In 1761-1766 the fortress was rebuilt into a typical royal residence. Today, after reconstruction, it
shelters the historical part of the Slovak National Museum.
National Theatre

Dominanting the Hviezdoslav's Square in Bratislava. In front of it there is a Gamymedes' Fountain built by V. Tilgner in 1888.
Another dominant feature of the square is the statue of the Slovak poet Pavol Orsagh-Hviezdoslav. Historic heart of the town
is now a protected town reserve covering almost 50 ha with more than 350 protected items.
Tomb on the Bradlo

Was erected to the memory of the slovak patriot, politician, scientist and general of the French Army - Milan Rastislav
Stefanik, whose body, after his tragic death, was buried here. The tomb is one of the finest examples of Slovak architecture,
designed by the National Artist Dusan Jurkovic.
Dolná Krupá Manor House

Residence of the aristocratic family of Brunswick. Built in 1793-1795 in classical style. At the beginning of the 19th century
Ludwig van Beathoven was a guest of the family at Dolná Krupá where he allegedly composed the Moonlight Sonata. Now it
houses some of the Slovak Nationals Museum's collections.
Trencin Castle

First documented in 1111. Reconstructed objects of the originally royal castle and a later anti-Turk fortress are being gradually
opened to the public and used as museums. The old Roman stronghold Laugaricio built within the today's Trencin's grounds is
documented in Roman inscription hewn to the castle rock commemorating the victorious battle of Romans over German tribes
fought A.D. 178. Historical centre of the Trencin town is now a protected town reserve which includes parts of the
fortifications, burgher houses, churches, museum, picture gallery and exhibition area
Bojnice Castle

Built in Gothic style on a travertine rock. The castle was reconstructed in 1889-1909 in the style French romantic castles by
the Palffy family.Now it houses natural historical, etnographic and art-historical collections and a picture gallery. Underneath
the castle is a dripstone cave. In the nearby Bojnice Spa the diseases of locomotor organs and neurogic diseases are treated.
