Introduction
by Robyn Wynn
The purpose of this
glossary is to recognize all kinds of beliefs so
that together we can learn more about them, how they make us
feel and why, how the beliefs started, and what beliefs can be
more
helpful than others to our spiritual lives. We do not seek to
ridicule,
convert, or choose beliefs for anyone, for each person has to make her
own choices based on what works best for her. What we do want
to do, however, is to get as much information as possible in one place -
on all sorts of belief systems and their origins - in order to
educate one
another, uplift one another, and try to bring peace and joy, if
only
for a little while. At least by sharing information and inspiration,
despite
the very personal nature of religion and philosophy, we can help
one another on that often arduous, lifelong spiritual journey.
Therefore,
take what is here (if necessary, with a grain of salt). Ponder the
different
myths, legends, religious beliefs and historical facts. See what
creates a
resounding, "YES!" in your own heart. Then remember that
others
are seeking their truth, too, as we all continuously do. It is
this seeking
that we have in common, and what should draw us together as
Unified Spirits,
no matter what our beliefs. Our ultimate desire is to see more tolerance
and acceptance of others, and more love and peace in a world that has
long been divided by spiritual differences. It is our belief that
we really all
want the same thing; however, we have to go through many
different routes to get there. "You take the high road, and
I'll
take the low road," as the song says. We believe,
though, that we will all meet in the end.
