Day 4
Cygnet was a very picturesque stage; not that we had time to look!
Day four was a much shorter loop south of Hobart around Huonville. It was a beautiful warm day with spectators out in their shirtsleeves. On this much shorter day with dry roads we only managed to make up 1 minute 48seconds but the next two days are much longer and demanding.
The heat haze from the
exhaust creates drama in this shot.
We lost about 15 – 20 seconds on one stage when another competitor forced us off the road while we attempted to overtake him (it wasn’t a clubman). In fact he attempted to prevent us from passing twice on the same stage and his actions were reported to the organisers. They said they would ‘have a chat’ to him but his actions required more as he created considerable danger to both himself and us.
Pushing hard at a turn 3
right at ‘T’ at the end of a long straight.
