Racing Fans mourn the death of Seven Time Winston Cup Champion
Dale Earnhardt who lost his life at the Daytona 500 2/18/2001

The winningest driver at Daytona crashed on the last lap going
into the last turn after being bumped by another car.
Sadly he never got to see his newest DEI driver, Michael Waltrip,
win his first Winston Cup points race after fifteen years of trying.


SOME CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
1975: First career Winston Cup start came in World 600 on May 25. He finished 22nd.
*****First career Winston Cup victory came on April 1 at Bristol
1979: Earned Winston Cup Rookie-of-the-year.
1980: Won first Winston Cup Championship.
*****First Rookie to backup Rookie year with Championship.
1986: Won second Winston Cup Championship.
1987: Won third Winston Cup Championship.
1990: Won fourth Winston Cup Championship.
1991: Won fifth Winston Cup Championship.
1993: Won sixth Winston Cup Championship.
1994: Won seventh Winston Cup Championship.
1997: Failed to win a race for the first time in 15 years.
1998: After 20 attempts, wins the Daytona 500.
1999: Competed against son, Dale Jr., for the first time in a Winston Cup race on May 30
*****in the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Speedway, Charlotte.
*****Dale Earnhardt finished 6th and Dale Jr. finished 16th.
2000: Last win came at the Winston 500 at Talladega on Oct. 15.
