Ingredients : Long grained rice(1 cup), Toor dal(1.5 cups), channa dal(1/2 cup), urad dal(1/4 cup), cilantro/coriander leaves(a few), red chillies(2-3), green chillies(1-2), salt(4 tsp), asaefoetida, curry leaves(optional)
Soak the rice and the daals together in water for about 2 hours. (If you are pressed for time, soak in hot water for an hour).
Strain the water out, add all the other ingredients except curry leaves and grind into a coarse thick batter(like pancake mix).
Add curry leaves to the batter.
Pour batter on saucepan. Spread the batter thickly like you do for pancakes/uthappams.
This dish is usually eaten with jaggery/butter as sidedish.
