Once you prepare this casserole you will serve it again and again. Your guests will always ask for the recipe. They will think you slaved for hours. This is an excellent party dish.
SOUTHERN POTATO CASSEROLE 1 bag frozen Hash browns 16 oz sour cream 1 can cream of chicken soup 8 oz. grated medium or old cheddar cheese 1 large (2 med.) onions, chopped 1 cup chopped green peppers 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine Salt and pepper *********************************** TOPPING 2 cups crushed Corn flakes 1/2 cup melted butter. ********************************* METHOD
1. Saute onions and green peppers until cooked.
2. Mix sour cream and undiluted soup together.
3. In large bowl, place potatoes, onions, green peppers, soup mixture, cheese, salt and pepper. Mix all well.
4. Spread Corn flakes on top. Dribble melted butter over Corn flakes.
5. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Variation: Use cream of celery or mushroom soup. Your family will thank you for this dish.
